The United States women's soccer team will be bidding farewell to a legend on Wednesday night. It'll be the last time Abby Wambach suits up for the red, white and blue, and she'll do so against China at the Superdome in the final game of the "Victory Tour."
There will be soccer odds at BookMaker.eu of this fantastic match on Wednesday.
ODDS ANALYSIS
The Americans are always heavy favorites seemingly everywhere they go. They probably deserved more than a two-goal victory against China in Phoenix on Sunday night, but they were absolutely winners from the get go in the match. Jill Ellis surely will be looking for even more offensive work here against a Chinese back line which looked like it was set to crack time and time again.
That's why the Yanks are likely to be favored by more than two goals again in this one. It's a massive margin by any soccer standards, but when you attack for the entire match as the U.S. seems capable of doing, even a five-goal victory isn't out of the question.
THE LAST MEETING
On Sunday, these same two teams met in Phoenix in a 2-0 win for the Americans. It was the first time these two teams were on the pitch together dating back to the World Cup when the United States knocked China out of the competition in the quarterfinals.
Both Crystal Dunn and Shannon Press found the back of the net for the Americans, the former in the 39th minute and the latter in the 81st just two minutes after she came on.
The Chinese did have some chances at the end of the match, but they weren't able to break the seal against Alyssa Naeher, who started in net in place of Hope Solo.
ANALYSIS AND ODDS PREDICTION
Before we get into all of the emotions surrounding this match for the Americans, it's worth remembering that China is still undergoing a lot of changes. Bruno Bini is still trying to put his stamp on this team after taking over for Hao Wei, and the Chinese ladies haven't played up to their capabilities for our money ever since that point.
The Americans surely won't want to make any mistakes here. They're 20-1-4 thus far in 2015 with this one match left to be played, and they're 10-0-2 here in the United States. There will surely be some complaints about the fact that this match will be played on artificial turf instead of grass, but that isn't going to spoil the party.
We're just a tad concerned that Wambach is going to be pressing just a little too much to get that very last goal of her career, but we can't imagine that she's coming out until she scores it. If that moment starts to drag just a bit, Ellis might want to pull the plug on the most accomplished striker in the history of women's soccer just to get some of the younger players one last shot to prove that they're ready for the Olympics in Rio next year.
We don't see a way that the back line for the United States concedes a goal in this one against a disjointed Chinese set of strikers, and if that turns out to be the case, we should end up seeing a somewhat similar final score to what we saw in Phoenix on Sunday.
United States 3, China 0
