The "Victory Tour" for the United States Women's National Team took a major detour on Sunday when their game against Trinidad & Tobago was canceled due to potentially unsafe playing conditions. The American ladies will once again be back at it against T&T on Thursday at the Alamodome, though concerns over the pitch in San Antonio could see this game be threatened as well.
There will be soccer odds at BookMaker.eu for this and all of the great women's soccer matches on the "Victory Tour."
ODDS ANALYSIS
The Americans were heavy favorites on Sunday against T&T, and that will surely be the case again in this match. The extra travel probably actually helps the United States, as it is in much better shape to get ready and play a match on short notice than Trinidad is.
KEY INJURIES
The real news from the American camp is that Megan Rapinoe's year is over with. She's one of the top distributors and creators from the midfield that the USWNT has, but she tore her ACL on the pitch in training leading into the match which was supposed to be played on Sunday at Aloha Stadium.
However, that proved to be the last straw for Jill Ellis and her team. She and the rest of the women declared that they weren't going to play at Aloha Stadium on the turf which was coming up from the seams just a few hours before the scheduled kickoff.
Don't be surprised if the Americans decide to either not play at the Alamodome either or use a significantly lesser lineup than you might've seen to prevent any other major players from injury, especially since the turf in San Antonio has already been much maligned by both women's and men's soccer players.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"I think the training grounds that we were given and the playing surface of the stadium were horrible. I think it's hard because no one's really going to protect us but ourselves. So we're put in a very hard position because obviously we want to play in front of these fans and we want to train before the game, but injuries happen when you don't protect yourself and when you're not protected from those higher up from you." – American striker Alex Morgan on why the match against T&T on Sunday wasn't played.
RECENT FORM
Even if the United States isn't at full strength in this match, there's nothing to be ashamed of for the results on the "Victory Tour." The Americans are 18-4-0 since February's loss in France, crushing team after team of this caliber by 5+ goals.
T&T, a team which is used to playing in subpar conditions, did beat Jamaica in its last match, but this is obviously a massive challenge.
ANALYSIS AND ODDS PREDICTION
This match at the Alamodome is going to feel a heck of a lot different than what we were expecting in Honolulu. The fact of the matter is that Ellis and her women really just want this "Victory Tour" over with at this point, and they want to get ready to regroup for 2016 without suffering any further injuries.
Trinidad doesn't have the horses to stick around with even the C-Team if that's what the United States chooses to use, but we can't see the same emphatic result on Thursday that we were forecasting on Sunday. Don't be surprised if this match doesn't even ultimately get played.
United States 3, Trinidad & Tobago 0
