There's a decent chance that the New England Revolution and Toronto FC are going to end up playing against each other in the MLS Cup playoffs this season.
The two will meet in a potential prequel in the Great White North on Sunday night.
ODDS ANALYSIS
The Revolution are in fine form at the moment, but they aren't favorites in this match in the slightest. In fact, the Reds are the odds-on favorites at -110, a somewhat peculiar looking price considering how close these two teams are in the Eastern Conference to one another.
The total in this game is set at a somewhat high 2.5 with -140 vig on the over.
KEY INJURIES
Collen Warner has had his name come up on the Disciplinary Committee board, and he'll end up suspended for this match as a result for Toronto FC. If that was the only problem Greg Vanney had in this one though, he'd be a happy man.
Instead, four of his potential back line regulars, Mark Bloom, Nick Hagglund, Damien Perquis and Jackson are nursing injuries. The latter three are all at least considering getting back in time for this match, but Bloom's season is over with.
TFC also won't have the services of either Daniel Lovitz or Benoit Cheyrou in the midfield on Sunday.
The Revs meanwhile, enter this match with just one name on the injury list, that of Darrius Barnes, who has been out since April with a torn patellar tendon.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"I think we're getting very close to knowing exactly who that is, and I have my opinion on exactly who that is… Once we get everybody healthy and a full selection of guys in there, then we can hopefully get some consistent runs with the guys that we believe are our best group." –TFC head coach Greg Vanney on his constantly changing back four defenders
RECENT FORM
Toronto has been on a great run for over backers. Eleven straight games for the Reds have featured at least three goals, a 9-0-2 mark overall towards the over.
The results in those games though, have been quite mixed for Toronto. The home team has won four straight games the Reds have played in, and they are 2-0-2 to show for their work in that span. It should also be noted that Toronto hasn't played to a draw since a wild 3-3 decision back on July 25 against Columbus.
August and September have been really kind to the Revolution. They crushed Orlando City last weekend 3-0, giving them four straight victories, their longest such run of the campaign. New England hasn't lost a game since July 11, going 5-1-0 in that span to get comfortably into the middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference playoff picture with a shot at still climbing up into the top spot before season's end.
ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION
There's a lot of offense working right now for the Revs. Diego Fagundez has scored in consecutive games, Charlie Davies has netted nine on the season, and Lee Nguyen is still one of the most lethal strikers that this league has to offer.
That's all really bad news for a TFC defense which just can't seem to keep balls out of the back of its own net right now.
With just as many games with two goals or more conceded as it has played with either no goals or two goals allowed, it's easy to see how there are going to be some away strikes in this game. The price on New England is just too good to pass on.
