Minnesota United's start to its inaugural season couldn't have been much worse. The Loons easily looked like the worst team in the MLS, particularly defensively. But Adrian Heath's team has rallied and is just on the outside of the playoffs in the Western Conference and is sitting on the exact same 11 points Sunday's foes, the LA Galaxy have at this middling juncture of the season.

Odds Analysis
Effectively, this match is set at a pick 'em. The Loons are the slight dogs in this fight at +165 compared to LA's +140, but clearly, this one could go either way.
The real eye-popping number is the total, set at 3 with -140 vig on the over. Could this be a rare MLS showdown with a total of 3.5? It's entirely possible by the time it kicks off on Sunday afternoon at TCF Bank Stadium.
Key Injuries
Minnesota United only has a pair of injuries to deal with of any note, and both are long-term absences. Bernardo Anor has a lower leg injury, while Thomas de Villardi has a torn Achilles' tendon and will miss the rest of the season.
The Galaxy are still trying to work around one big injury in their midfield to Sebastian Lletget, who was hurt while playing for the U.S. Men's National Team coached by former Galaxy boss Bruce Arena. Now to make matters worse, another member of the USMNT midfield, Jermaine Jones is out with an MCL sprain until around the 4th of July. Robbie Rogers' season is already over with thanks to a broken ankle.
Recent Form
Minnesota United was beaten 3-2 at BMO Field by Toronto last weekend, but it was a gamely effort against one of the MLS' best squads on the road. That came on the heels of a 2-0 victory at home against Sporting Kansas City. The Loons are still just 3-2-6 on the season, but all three of their wins have come here at home.
The Galaxy are badly underachieving right now at 3-2-5. They do have one win on the road this year, and that happened to come last weekend at Red Bull Arena. The Red Bulls have some issues this year though, and we can't help but wonder if LA merely caught them at the right time. That win came on the back of three straight matches at home without a win, including draws against Chicago and Philadelphia and an unsightly 3-0 loss to Seattle.

The Galaxy are always the most ridiculously priced teams in the MLS. They aren't a playoff team right now, and they flat out don't have the talent that you think they have by going up and down their roster. Steven Gerrard? He's a shell of the man who captained Liverpool for years and years. Jones and Lletget, two of the best players on the roster, are now stuck on the touchline with knocks, and Giovani dos Santos has been relatively disappointing this season.
The Loons aren't great, and we don't think they're a playoff team. But what they are is competitive at home. Largely, getting any team as a home underdog in the MLS makes for a good percentage play, but particularly when that team is a dog against a club that isn't one of the absolute best in the MLS. The Galaxy have the stigma around them that they are, but as fitting as it is to say this, they're in "La La Land."
MLS Odds: Minnesota United 3, LA Galaxy 1
