Banged up defense could give Everton problems against Manchester United on NBCSN Saturday

Everton-vs-Manchester-United-Odds14

The fact that Manchester United is still in the race in the Premier League is a testament to just how strong this team is. The Red Devils are only just barely favorites on the road this Saturday, but they could be in better shape than the BPL odds suggest against Everton.

ODDS ANALYSIS

The Red Devils have a tough task here, knowing that they have had a pair of wins and a pair of losses on the road thus far in the 2015-16 term. That said, Everton isn't the greatest home team in the world at just 1-2-1 in four fixtures, which is why Man U is still favored at +120 on Saturday.

The total has opened up at a flat 2.5.

KEY INJURIES

Roberto Martinez has all sorts of problems right now in defense. Tony Hibbert and Leighton Baines are both out for the Toffees, which is providing huge issues for a makeshift unit. Tom Cleverley and Steven Pienaar are still out as well, men who could really help out the cause at Goodison Park.

United very likely won't have Michael Carrick this week after he was left off of England's roster with an injury last weekend. Wayne Rooney and Bastian Schweinsteiger are question marks as well with thigh injuries. Luke Shaw is a long-term absentee for the Red Devils.

QUOTE TO NOTE

"It is going well so far. I have had a great welcome from the fans. I don't think about my price on the pitch. The goal against Liverpool, the big enemy of the club, allowed the fans to get to know me a bit better." – New Manchester United strike Anthony Martial on his first goal of his career against Liverpool

RECENT FORM

Everton knows that it missed an opportunity against Liverpool in a match in which it was the superior of the two teams. However, that 1-1 result wasn't a bad one by any stretch of the imagination. That followed up a pair of big road wins against West Brom in the EPL and against Reading in the Capital One Cup.

The last we saw of Manchester United, it was getting ripped by Arsenal 3-0. However, the Red Devils were beaten by a very hot and very talented side on the road in a match which they were dogs in.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

Manchester United's offense has been fantastic, especially now that Martial is a part of the regular rotation. Whether we see Memphis Depay or Wayne Rooney alongside of him in this matchup might not totally be relevant against the shoddy defense featured by the Toffees.

If Everton is going to get something out of this match, it is going to have to really get something going offensively. However, the Red Devils are incredibly tough to score against, even though Arsenal made it look easy. Romelo Lukaku is always a good bet to put the ball in the back of the net, but we aren't all that sure that this is going to be a day to remember for him.

We suspect the Toffees will end up getting shutout in this fixture by a rested and hungry Manchester United side, and that won't be good enough for the hosts to get any of the spoils.
