Few teams across the world can boast about a better start to their season than Manchester City has had. The Citizens are not just 2-0-0, but they have outscored their foes 6-0 to start the season as well. This match against Everton won't be easy, but the visitors are rightfully favored by a comfortable margin.
ODDS ANALYSIS
That comfy margin is set at -150 on the moneyline, equating to -1 with +118 vig on the Asian Handicap. It's really tough to bet against Manchester City right now regardless as to whether it is playing home or away, so laying the goal is going to be the popular bet at plus odds.
The total is high after watching Man City run roughshod offensively in two matches. The total is teetering on 3, but for now, it sits at 2.5 and -156 vig on the over.
KEY INJURIES
Fernando remains out for Manchester City with a hamstring issue, but with Sergio Aguero making his debut last weekend against Chelsea, we don't have any further injury concerns for the Sky Blues.
Leighton Baines suffered a setback to his injured ankle which required further surgery. As a result, one of Everton's vets is out through at least Thanksgiving, if not longer. Darron Gibson is likely to sit out this match along with Steven Pienaar and Aiden McGeady. The Toffees have a ton of problems with big names, which makes their strong start to the season all the more impressive.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"Sergio has a great chance to be the best striker in the world, to be like them as one of the best ever, if he keeps working hard as he is now. We saw that today." – Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho on Sergio Aguero
RECENT FORM
It's all good to be a Citizen right now. Man City is 2-0-0 with matching 3-0 wins over Chelsea and West Brom. That win last week at home against the Blues was exactly what Manchester City needed to bring some momentum forward into the rest of the first month of the season, and it has a great chance to open up a huge lead in the Premier League on the serious contenders in the coming weeks.
Everton was a big underdog last weekend at St. Mary's against Southampton, but the Saints were the ones who looked like they had no chance whatsoever of success. The Toffees picked up a 3-0 victory in shocking fashion, a far cry from the 2-2 result against Watford to start off the season.
ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION
Everton is going to be Jekyll and Hyde all season long. There are going to be days where Romelu Lukaku and Leon Osman put this team on their backs and carry it to improbable results. There will also be days where teams like Manchester City will hand the Toffees their lunch.
It's tough to forecast anything but the latter result in this case.
City is playing incredible soccer at the moment, and with Raheem Sterling playing a large role in the offense and Aguero back in the lineup, there are plenty of weapons here. It's a shame that Wilfried Bony can't find his way onto the pitch for Manuel Pellegrini, but even in an attacking midfield role, the team has the likes of Fernandinho, Yaya Toure, Jesus Navas, Samir Nasri and David Silva, all of which could probably slot in as a frontline striker if need be.
Goals should be aplenty in this one, but unfortunately for the hosts, most of them will be on the right side of the ledger.
