Hull City fighting for survival against Tottenham on second-to-last Saturday of EPL season

Hull City (8-10-18, 34 Points) is going to need a win somewhere along the way in these last two matches of the season to avoid relegation. Getting that win against Tottenham (17-7-12, 58 Points) doesn't seem all that likely this weekend.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Tottenham is not surprisingly the odds on favorite in this match at -130. The Spurs have played well at home all season long, and though they haven't been in great form down the stretch, Hull is going to have to go for broke, which could be problematic.

The total is relatively high by EPL standards at 2.5 (over -120).

KEY INJURIES

Ben Davies and Kyle Walker are both out for this match for Tottenham, and they'll probably both sit for the rest of the season. Vlad Chiriches won't be in the lineup either after he was issued a red card against Stoke City last week.

The Tigers are about as healthy as they could be at the moment. They haven't had Mohamed Diame and Robert Snodgrass for basically the whole season, and the only other issue is the thigh injury to Curtis Davies.

QUOTE TO NOTE

"The Europa League is another chance to win a trophy, which is something we have made it clear that we want to do. We will try and win the last two matches to qualify. We will be taking that competition seriously." – Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, trying to dispel the theory that the Spurs might be better off not dealing with the Europa League next season

RECENT FORM

What should be remembered here is that Tottenham only has one win since the middle of March, that coming against Newcastle, another team in the relegation fight. The Spurs are literally seemingly trying to do what they can to not get into the Europa League, a goal which was made easier by losing to Stoke City 3-0 last weekend at the Britannia.

Last weekend's loss at home against Burnley probably sealed Hull City's fate. The 1-0 loss was crippling for morale, something that Steve Bruce and the gang will have to figure out how to get up from.

TALKING TOTALS

The Spurs have been pushing games past the total, but it hasn't necessarily been due to their offense. They have allowed at least one goal in five straight games, and three of their last four have eclipsed the number to beat.

Hull has kept four of its last five matches under the total thanks to an offense which has sputtered all season long. The Tigers did put one past Hugo Lloris in the first meeting of the year between these teams, but that 2-1 loss in November was eons ago.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

Still, with as badly as Tottenham is playing and with all of the twists and turns we have seen in the relegation scrap this year, would you really be willing to count out Hull?

Though the Spurs are very likely going to concede one thanks to an atrocious defense, they should at least be helped just a bit by a Hull offense which just can't seem to find the back of the net when it really needs it.

The Tigers will theoretically live to fight another day by taking a point in this match, but it isn't going to be a pretty affair. Still, if you told Bruce right now that he was still in it with a fight going into the final match day of the year, he would probably take it.
