Soccer Odds - Brighton and Hove Albion vs. Chelsea Match Preview

Premier-League-Online-Soccer-Betting-Props

Match Day 24 in the Premier League is upon us, and time is running out to sort out the mess that is the relegation race at the bottom of the table. Brighton and Hove Albion has stayed out of the gutter the entire game, but it has just three points separating it from Stoke City in 18th place. This match against Chelsea doesn't figure to help out in the quest for safety, but if anything can be had from it, it will be a huge boost for Chris Hughton's men.

This Premier League duel will go down Saturday, January 20, 2017, at 7:30 a.m. ET at Falmer Stadium. The match will be televised live on NBC Sports Network.

Odds Analysis

Goals could be hard to come by in the first match of the weekend in English soccer. Brighton has only scored 17 times in 23 matches this season, but its defensive marks are strong with 29 goals allowed on the term.

Chelsea is notorious for being relatively methodical under Antonio Conte, and the squad has allowed just 16 goals this season.

That said, the total is still on the middling side at 2.5, albeit with -125 vig on the under.

Chelsea is favored by a full ball on the Asian Handicap and is set at -220 on the moneyline. A price of 13 to 2 is a huge payout on Brighton on the moneyline.

Key Injuries

Brighton has had a relatively solid season on the injury front, and it's a good thing. The team is probably the thinnest in the top flight in England, and the fact that Steve Sidwell is the only injury concern is good news for Hughton.

Chelsea is going to have a short bench on Saturday for this match. Pedro and Alvaro Morata have both been suspended for this match after picking up a pair of yellow cards each against Norwich City in the FA Cup midweek. Injuries aren't the problem for Conte as Cesc Fabregas is expected back for this weekend after sitting out against the Canaries midweek thanks to a minor hamstring injury.

Recent Form

Hughton has demanded that his team picks up at least a few points on the road in the second half of the season. The team's home form has been good, though even a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth a few matches ago left a lot to be desired. The good news for Albion is that it has at least a point in four straight fixtures at home. The bad news is that the team hasn't won on the road since November 4 at Swansea City.

Chelsea has drawn five consecutive matches in regulation time across all competitions. That's all a little bit misleading considering the fact that two of these matches were against Norwich City in the third round of the FA Cup while one was against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semifinals. Still, the team's last two Premier League matches against Leicester City at home and Arsenal away both ended in draws, results that aren't good enough for the Blues to surely stay in the top four.

Something is wrong with Chelsea right now, and this trip to Falmer Stadium could be treacherous.

Glenn Murray and Albion have been fantastic this year at home, and we have no doubt that the hosts are going to have a shot to snare at least a point in this match. If the Blues can't figure out how to get anything going forward and find the right combination of finishers, a Murray strike could be the only thing separating these two teams on Saturday.

Premier League Odds: Brighton & Hove Albion 1, Chelsea 0
