Odds Analysis

This is a heck of a price on the Swans at 6 to 1 to win this match at home. Liberty Stadium hasn't always been the toughest place in the world for Premier League teams to come play, but let's remember that this trip to Wales isn't a short one for Liverpool.

The Reds though, are -213 favorites on the moneyline no less, and that translates into the deadly Asian Handicap of -1, a line that often sucks bettors into wagering on the favorite.

The total of a flat 3 is very high for this stage of the season, but Liverpool already has 16 goals in three matches, and its three away fixtures have reached a total of 14 goals.

Key Injuries

Mamadou Sakho played 90 minutes with Liverpool's U-23 team midweek, and that's a good sign that he's set to return from his Achilles problem. That return won't come this week for the Reds, but perhaps next week he'll debut this season. Joseph Gomez and Seyi Ojo remain out of the lineup for Jurgen Klopp.

The Swans only have one real concern in the form of Nathan Dyer. He's got an ankle injury and is set to miss the entire month of October as a result. Fernando Fernandez has a groin injury that caused him to miss last week's duel with Manchester City, but he should be back and available for selection this week.

Recent Form

Liverpool has been scorching of late with four straight victories across all competitions. Even the road win at Derby County with a secondary team is impressive, though of course, it's not notable in relation to the men who are going to be on the pitch. The senior team most often chosen in the Premier League though, has beaten Leicester 4-1, Chelsea 2-1 and Hull City 5-1 since the middle of September following the first international break of the season.

For as well as the Reds are playing, the Swans really have been that bad since a 2-2 draw against Chelsea on September 11. The team was bounced from the Capital One Cup by Manchester City and followed that up with a 3-1 loss at home to the same team last weekend. Southampton also beat this team on the road 1-0 on September 18.

Francesco Guidolin is already under a ton of pressure this year at Swansea City, especially with new American ownership coming into play and expected to be at attendance in this match. A poor performance resulting in a multi-goal defeat will probably see Guidolin put on at least a very toasty seat, if not immediately be his pink slip.

There's a real issue at the back right now for Swansea City, and playing against such an aggressive and positive Liverpool side is going to make that challenge immense. That said, Mo Barrow and Jefferson Montero are still EPL-caliber fullbacks, and both could come up big in this match. If they do, the opportunity is going to be there to steal at least a point from this fixture, and that should at least fend off the hounds on Guidolin's back for the time being.

EPL Odds: Swansea City 1, Liverpool 1
