Sunderland only has three positive results on the road this year, and that in and of itself makes this trip to Tottenham a tall task.
That said, the Black Cats are coming off of their biggest result of the season, a 4-2 win at Swansea, so it isn't unbelievable to think they could string two positive results together in a span of just a few days.

ODDS ANALYSIS
Tottenham has gone 5-4-2 in its 11 matches at home, but just as Sunderland got a rare road win against the Swans, the Spurs were handed one of their two losses at home on Wednesday against Leicester City. That's why it's at least plausible to think that the -303 price on the Spurs might not be so great even though this is a title contender against a relegation contender.
Tottenham is set at -1.5 on the Asian Handicap, and that's why the total is higher here at a de facto flat 3 even though the number is set at 2.5 and -143 vig on the over.
KEY INJURIES
Ryan Mason didn't get back in the lineup for the Spurs midweek against Leicester City even though he was expected to do. Alex Pritchard and Clinton N'Jie are both out for the time being as well.
Sunderland is relatively healthy at this point, and Sam Allardyce badly needs that to stay the case due to the fact that he doesn't necessarily have a legitimate Premier League side as it is.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"When we get a positive result, we try to realize we are very young, the youngest squad in the Premier League and tonight is the same. The competition is very tough, we play a lot of games and sometimes it's hard to be clinical in front of goal." – Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino ruing the loss to Leicester City, a game in which the Spurs had 62 percent of the possession and clearly had the greater amount of chances at goal
RECENT FORM
Give Big Sam credit for taking Sunderland at least a little bit closer to getting out of the drop zone. The Black Cats have two wins in their last three matches, though it should be noted that of late, they've been beaten by Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea as well. It should be noted that Sunderland has played three straight over games and overs in five out of six.
The results are starting to get a little frustrating for Tottenham. The Spurs have largely been the better of the two teams on the field for the most part, but they've got two draws and a loss to show for their work in these last three clashes.
ANALYSIS AND ODDS PREDICTION
Jermain Defoe has really turn it on of late, and he's starting to turn into a viable asset for a team which badly needs the help to stay alive for the 2016-17 term.
That said, Tottenham has largely been an unlucky side of late. Its worst showing was the 2-2 draw in the FA Cup against Leicester, and we're not going to hold that match against it. The Spurs should've beaten the Foxes on Wednesday and deserved a better fate against Everton as well. We think they'll take care of business at home against a team which we still think will end up taking the drop at the end of the season one way or the other.
Tottenham 2, Sunderland 0
