The United States Men's National Team has had played of heartache in recent years against Mexico. The team was beaten by El Tri in the Confederations Cup playoff at the Rose Bowl in 2015, then was beaten in Columbus in the first match in the Hexagonal, the final round of World Cup qualifying. Now, the Stars and Stripes will have a chance to move a step closer to the 2018 World Cup at Estadio Azteca on Sunday night.
At 8:30 p.m. ET, tune into FOX Sports 1 for live television coverage of this World Cup Qualifying match on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Estadio Azteca.

Odds Analysis
The Mexicans are virtually always understated against the United States. Mexico has the better of these two soccer programs at the moment. There's a reason why the Stars and Stripes have seemingly fallen behind in CONCACAF, especially after a lackluster Gold Cup and Copa America in recent years.
However, there is a renewed sense around the grounds in the United States. The Americans are playing far less attractive soccer under Bruce Arena than they did with Jurgen Klinsmann, but they are far more tactical and ready to take on the rest of the world in doing so. Even going to the fortress known as Estadio Azteca doesn't feel like too big of a task for this team.
Recent Form
The Yanks picked up another three big points against Trinidad & Tobago on Thursday night in the fifth game of the Hex. The 2-0 score line really did tell the whole story of the night, but it could have been both far worse and far more emphatic. The USA needed 52 minutes to break the ice courtesy of Christian Pulisic, but there were plenty of opportunities in the first half that probably should have ended in the back of the net. But the finishing wasn't there for the Americans at all until Pulisic got on the end of a great DeAndre Yedlin cross, and that made the first few minutes of the second half quite nervy.
Now, the Americans are on seven points in five matches, and if they get anything at all from this fixture, being on eight with four matches left to play should see them into the World Cup after the 0-0-2 start.
Mexico is at 4-1-0 through five fixtures in the Hex. The team beat up Honduras 3-0 on Thursday night at Estadio Azteca. Not that there's much doubt left, but three points here in this match would not only secure a sweep of the United States, but it would make it almost a mathematical impossibility to be left out of the World Cup. El Tri have conceded just one goal in the five fixtures, that coming to the United States in Columbus. Their only slip, a scoreless draw, came at Panama just a couple days after the big win at MAPFRE Stadium.

You just wonder where the goals are going to come from here for the United States. For as well as Arena has this team playing tactically with Michael Bradley at the back of the team's four-man diamond, there are just a slew of problems up front. Pulisic and Clint Dempsey feel like the only men capable of even coming remotely close to scoring.
John Brooks was a wreck when these two teams met in Columbus, and we have a hunch that will be the case again. He should have allowed a goal to Kenwynn Jones after some horrible marking against T&T. If he pulls that same stunt against Carlos Vela, Jesus Corona, Giovani Dos Santos and Oribe Peralta, this could end up being a devastating result for a club that feels like it's headed in the right direction.
Mexico fans could be the ones chanting "Dos a Cero" by the time this one is finished.
