The Rogers Cup won't quite have the same sort of draw of the Grand Slam events, but it is one of the most prestigious events of the summer on the ATP and WTA Tournaments.
WHAT TO KNOW
The Rogers Cup is held at separate locations for the men and the women. The ladies will be taking to the hard courts in Toronto, while the men will be honing their craft on the hard courts in Montreal.
Both tournaments have 56 entrants. The eight top seeds for both the men and the women get a bye into the second round, and they'll have to win five matches in six days to be able to claim glory.
On the men's side of the Rogers Cup, they only play best-of-three sets instead of the Grand Slam format of best-of-five.
MEN'S ROGERS CUP ODDS ANALYSIS
Novak Djokovic +100
Andy Murray +450
Kei Nishikori +900
Stanislav Wawrinka +1200
Rafael Nadal +1400
Milos Raonic +2500
Marin Cilic +2500
Todd Berdych +5000
Grigor Dimitrov +5000
Richard Gasquet +5000
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga +5000
Djokovic is an odds-on favorite just about everywhere that he goes, and for good reason. He's 48-3 this season with six championships under his belt in nine tournaments. It's going to take a whole heck of a lot to knock him off on any surface, though in two-out-of-three format, it's a little bit easier to do than it is to beat him in three sets.
Roger Federer withdrew from the Rogers Cup early on, which should have theoretically left a relatively easy draw for Andy Murray at the bottom of the bracket. Instead, it's possible that Murray is going to have to beat Tommy Robredo, Gael Monfils, Marin Cilic and Rafael Nadal just to reach the final.
Meanwhile, the road is much easier for Djokovic, who won't really have any opportunity to run into a tough match until the semifinals against Tomas Berdych.
As far as a dark horse is concerned, keep an eye on Canada's Milos Raonic. Thanks to Federer withdrawal, Raonic got a bye into the second round as the eighth seed, and he won't have a tough match which should give him any problems until a likely quarterfinal draw with Stanislav Wawrinka.
WOMEN'S ROGERS CUP ODDS ANALYSIS
Serena Williams +110
Simona Halep +800
Petra Kvitova +900
Victoria Azarenka +1000
Garbine Muguruza +1600
Caroline Wozniacki +1800
Angelique Kerber +2500
Agnieszka Radwanska +2500
Ana Ivanovic +3300
Venus Williams +3300
Lucie Safarova +3300
Literally anything can happen on the women's side of the Rogers Cup, but it's tough to bet against Serena Williams, particularly in a tournament where Maria Sharapova has withdrawn.
There really isn't such a thing as another player who has a cakewalk into the third round of this tournament. Literally all 56 players have a legitimate claim to being able to win the Rogers Cup.
That's why it's at least plausible to bet on Agnieszka Radwanska, the sixth seed in this tournament to repeat at 25 to 1. It's a steep price on a woman who should be favored until at least the quarterfinals, if not further down the road than that.
Keep an eye as well on Eugenie Bouchard. Yes, Canada's top female player has been struggling of late, but playing on the hard courts in her homeland should help her. She's got a really tough second round draw waiting against Caroline Wozniacki, but from there, the coast could clear until a semifinal date with Williams. In terms of value, Bouchard at 66 to 1 might be as good as it gets.
