ODDS ANALYSIS
Obviously these aren't all the odds on the board, but in all likelihood, the winners on both the men's and women's side will come from this group.
Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic have been dominating their respective genders in majors, and it's not surprising they're the respective favorites by comfortable margins. The difference between the two is that Djokovic has lost just one match over the course of his last one match in his last six Grand Slam events. Williams was beaten in the final of both the French Open and the Australian Open earlier this year.
A LOOK BACK
The men's side of Wimbledon was pretty much all chalk every step of the way. Richard Gasquet was man who broke the mold, reaching the semifinals after beating Stan Wawrinka in an epic five-set thriller. That said, Gasquet never stood a chance against Djokovic in a straight sets victory. The Serb went on to beat Roger Federer in the final.
On the women's side, we saw a lot of chalk as well. Seven of the eight quarterfinalists were ranked players, something that you don't always see. In the end though, it was Williams who won this event, including beating both Maria Sharapova and Garbine Muguruza in the semis and the finals respectively.
PLAYERS TO BET
Andy Murray – Murray finally snared his Wimbledon championship in 2013, and he's the second favorite here to Djokovic to win the tournament this year. He's going to be a trendy pick for sure, and he's not likely to be challenged until the very end of this tournament. Murray came up short against Djoker in the French Open final after winning the first set, and he's a tough cookie to bet on if he runs into the Serb again, but after winning the prep tournament for Wimbledon in London, we aren't counting the Brit out.
Agnieszka Radwanska – Betting on women's tennis is a giant crapshoot at this point, and Radwanska really hasn't done much this year to make us think she's capable of a run in London. However, grass is her best surface for the most part, and she was a finalist here a few years ago and has been a semifinalist twice since that point. History tells you Radwanska should last into the second week, and that alone gives her some good value.
PLAYERS TO FADE
Roger Federer – Don't get us wrong. We love Fed. He's one of the five best players in the world for sure. But we think he's done winning at this level. He just doesn't have it in him to play in these five-set grueling matches against Djokovic, Murray, Wawrinka and the likes, and the days of he and Rafael Nadal dominating are clearly done. Don't be shocked if the banged up Federer, who pulled out of the French Open just before it started, ends up out of Wimbledon before the end of the first week.
Simona Halep – We just don't see it with the Romanian. Halep made it all the way up to the world's No. 2 female tennis player, but she's only been a finalist in one Grand Slam event, that being the 2014 French Open, and she's been bounced in either the first or second round in three of her last four Grand Slam events. We could see her making the second week at Wimbledon, but it's quite the stretch to see her winning this title.
