2014 bet-at-home Cup Kitzbuhel Result -
David Goffin wins
David Goffin's claimed his maiden ATP World Tour title at the bet-at-home Cup Kitzbühel on Saturday.
Goffin rallied from an early deficit, battling past fellow young gun Dominic Thiem 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 in what was the last clay-court match on the ATP World Tour in 2014. The Belgian wild card extended his win streak to 20 straight, following a dominant July that included three consecutive ATP Challenger Tour titles in Scheveningen (d. Beck), Poznan (d. Rola) and Tampere (d. Nieminen). He won 40 of 42 sets in that span.
The decisive moments of the contest arrived at 1-1 in the second set when Goffin recovered from 15-40 down on his own serve to save the break and start a winning run of seven straight games.
The world No 78 broke serve twice in the second set and added two more in the decider.
Both players were contesting their first ATP Tour final with 20-year-old Thiem ranked 28 places higher than his victorious opponent.
2013 bet-at-home Cup Kitzbuhel Results - Marcell Granollers takes Kitzbuehel
Marcel Granollers won his fourth ATP title after overcoming a slow start Saturday, defeating second-seeded Juan Monaco 0-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4 in the bet-at-home Cup final.
The 53rd-ranked Granollers won his first title since beating Monaco two years ago in Valencia, Spain.
He ended Robin Haase's two-year winning run in Kitzbuehel in the semifinals.
Monaco was seeking his ninth career title and second of the year, after winning in May in Duesseldorf, Germany.
The 31st-ranked Monaco, who won here in 2007, dictated the pace in the opening set with strong forehands from the baseline, sending Granollers from one corner to the other.
Monaco broke Granollers' first service game with a winner off the net cord and added two more breaks to take the opening set in 23 minutes.
Granollers saved two more break points early in the second set, helping him settle down. He broke at the first opportunity to lead 5-3.
Granollers had a 4-0 lead in the deciding set. He missed three match points at 5-2, but converted at the fourth chance on Monaco's serve when the Argentine sent a backhand volley long.
He's the first Spanish winner since Alex Corretja in 2002 and improved to 4-2 in career finals.
2012 bet-at-home Cup Kitzbuhel Winner - Robin Haase outlasts Philipp Kohlschreiber to retain title
Robin Haase of the Netherlands fought back after dropping the opening set to surprise the top seeded German player, Philipp Kohlschreiber, 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-2 to successfully defend his Bet-at-home Cup title in Kitzbuhel, Austria on Saturday.
The third seed needed two hours and seven minutes to topple Kohlschreiber in a close match, which was also interrupted by rain. This is just the second title of the Dutch player's career, with his only previous win came at the same venue last year.
In the latest match, Haase and Kohlschreiber put on a brilliant serving display in the first set, as they did not lose their serve until the end to level the score at 6-6 and take it to a tie-breaker. The German contender raised the level of his game afterwards, allowing Haase to win just two points and closing it 7-6(2).
The Dutch contender hit a blow to Kohlschreiber in the very first game of the second set but he failed to consolidate on it, evening out the score at 1-1. Haase broke again in the third and this time he managed to hold his following serve, taking a 3-1 lead. Serving to stay in the set at 3-5, Kohlschreiber could not hold his serve and went down 3-6.
In the final set, both players held their serve in the first three games to take the score to 2-1 in favour of Haase. The Dutch participant attained breakthrough in the fourth and won his subsequent serve to gain a 4-1 lead. The ending was quite similar to the previous set, as Kohlschreiber failed to hold when he served to stay in the match, losing it 2-6.
