2015 Ecuador Open winner - Victor Estrella Burgos wins in Quito
The 34-year-old from the Dominican Republic claimed a 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (7-5) victory over the Spanish world number 14 at the clay-court tournament.
On Saturday, Victor Estrella Burgos became the first Dominican Republic player to reach an ATP singles final. On Sunday, he became the first to win one, completing his magical run through Quito with a thrilling three-set victory over top seed Feliciano Lopez.
He also reached his first ATP World Tour doubles final in Quito, falling with partner Joao Souza to the German team of Alexander Satschko and Gero Kretschmer.
