2014 BMW Open Results
Slovakian Martin Klizan wins BMW Open in Munich
The Slovakian qualifier ranked 111 in the world, recovered from losing the first set to claim a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 over Italy's Fabio Fognini, ranked 13 in the world.
Klizan lost the first set before taking a 4-1 lead in the second. He dominated the third to go 3-0 up before Fognini pulled two games back, but the Slovakian held his service to take the title in just under 90 minutes.
The Slovakian had lost his last three meetings with Fognini but he had defeated the Italian in his only previous final, at St. Petersburg in October 2012.
The clay-court match had few highlights as Klizan had to call for medical treatment in the first set, suffering from abdominal pains. He continued to complain at each change-over. In the third set, Fognini also had to be treated for a similar complaint.
2013 BMW Open Results - Haas defeats Kohlschreiber to win BMW Open
Tommy Haas won the BMW Open for the first time in his 10th attempt.
The third-seeded Haas beat defending champion Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 7-6 (3) on Sunday to win the first all-German final in Munich in 48 years.
The 35-year-old Haas capped an impressive week by beating Kohlschreiber in 83 minutes for his 14th ATP Tour title and his fourth on home soil. He is the first 35-year-old to win an ATP Tour event since Fabrice Santoro at Newport in 2008.
Now based in Los Angeles, Haas previously won two titles at Halle and one in Stuttgart.
Haas will rise to 13th in Monday's world rankings. The rejuvenated German has an 18-7 match record this year, reaching the SAP Open final in San Jose, where he lost to Milos Raonic, and knocking out top-ranked Novak Djokovic en route to the semifinals in Miami.
2011 International German Open Hamburg Winner - Gilles Simon wins the Hamburg title
Frenchman Gilles Simon won his ninth ATP World Tour title on Sunday and second of the season as he rallied past World No. 14 Nicolas Almagro with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 scorline in the final of the German Tennis Championships 2011, an ATP 500 Event being played here in Hamburg.
With this feat, Simon also became the first Frenchman to clinch this title since Henri Leconte won it 25 years ago. This is second ATP title for the Frenchman, who triumphed at the Medibank International Sydney tournament in January.
Simon won the first set against Almagro after breaking him in the fifth game, but failed to maintain the momentum and lost the second-set. The Frenchman brought in his A-game at the right time in the final set and emerged victorious.
