Tennis Betting Online: There's no rest for the weary on the ATP and WTA Tours. Right after the Olympics are over with, the top players in the world must race back to the United States and get ready for a grueling run into the U.S. Open. That run begins with the Western & Southern Open, better known as the Cincinnati Masters.
This year's Western & Southern Open runs from Saturday, August 13 through the finals on Sunday, August 20.
History suggests that most of the top players in the world will head to Cincinnati for this event, though with the Olympics taking the place of a normal off week for the top dogs, we're not all that sure.
For a tournament which is only one week long, there's certainly a lot of play at the Western & Southern Open. There are 56 men and women who are both entered into the tournament, and they have to cram five rounds of play into just seven days.
The Western & Southern Open has been dominated by Roger Federer on the men's side. He doesn't beat Novak Djokovic often at this point in his career, but he did in the finale in Cincinnati a year ago for his record seventh Cincinnati Masters championship. Interestingly enough, Djokovic, the world's top player at the moment, has never won here in spite of the fact that he's been a finalist five times.
Not surprisingly, the women's side of the Western & Southern Open has been dominated by Serena Williams. She won the title in Cincinnati in both 2014 and 2015 and was a finalist in 2013 as well.
Williams and Djokovic will surely be the favorites to win the Western & Southern Open, though do keep in mind that there will be defections from this field from the norm before the tournament starts.
