Myrtle Beach Classic Golf Odds - Bet on PGA Tour

Myrtle Beach Classic PGA Odds

We see PGA Tour events rebrand due to sponsorship obligations and location changes or disappear from the schedule altogether. Not often do we see new tournaments added to the rotation. That is the case this week, though, with the alternate field Myrtle Beach Classic making its debut at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in South Carolina. This represents the third of five ‘additional’ events, as the Tour officially refers to them, for those that didn’t qualify for the limited field Wells Fargo Championship. A number of players in the field have won on Tour previously with betting favorite Erik Van Rooyen securing two of his six professional wins as a PGA member. However, opening odds suggest a wide open field, which is typically the case for these tournaments. Odds Analysis

Daniel Berger +2800

Coming back from an injury that hampered him for more than a year, Berger is probably one of the most accomplished players in the field. He has four Tour wins, the last at Pebble Beach in 2021. However, soon after is when the wheels fell off. But, Berger has been more consistent lately making the cut in three of his last four starts after a stretch of three straight MCs. And he put together his best effort last week with four rounds of 67 or better for a T13.

Ryan Fox +4000

The additional events are always a great time for lesser known players to shine. Not a household name on the PGA Tour, Fox does have multiple victories on the DP World Tour and has been one of that circuit’s most consistent players. Fox made the cut in each of his last five major championship starts and posted his best finish of the season a few weeks ago with a T4 at the Zurich Classic.

Garrick Higgo +6000

This is a huge risk/reward wager but it’s one I’m willing to take. Higgo has proven to be one of the longest hitters on Tour and can easily take advantage of the distance at The Dunes. He’s also been strong on his approach shots from 225 yards and longer. Success in those areas alone could be big, but Higgo needs to be sharper on the greens to be a consistent contender. He also had a MC last month at the Corales Puntacana Championship, the most recent additional event.

Erik van Rooyen +2500

At his opening price the favorite van Rooyen certainly stands out. He’s one of the bigger names in the field and has performed admirably on Tour this season with two top 10s among six top 25s in 12 starts. Though it wasn’t an additional event the field for the Cognizant Classic was similar with van Rooyen earning a share of second place. That gives me confidence to back him in this one.

Matt Wallace +3300

With his only Tour win coming in an additional event and most recently having his best finish since claiming the 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship, Wallace has a lot going for him. About 14 months ago Wallace closed with his second 66 to finish at 19-under for a one-shot win. Last week he opened with a 63 finishing 20-under at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson to earn a share of fourth. The perfect storm of events makes Wallace a worthy pick in the outright.

Course: The Dunes Golf and Beach Club – 7,450 yards, Par 71

The field for this additional event doesn’t get the benefit of an easier course. In fact, players may have a more difficult time navigating the 7,450-yard Dunes layout than their counterparts in North Carolina. Opened in 1949 The Dunes was one of the earliest courses in what is now a hot resort destination. The length appeals to big hitters, but elevated bunkers surrounding the greens require air and accuracy. With contoured greens it’s imperative for players to hit approach shots close to the stick or be left with a tricky putt. The signature 13th hole or “Waterloo” as it’s called, wraps around a lake and leads to some dicey situations and decision-making on how to best attack it. The club hosted the PGA Tour Champions Charles Schwab Cup Championship from 1994-1999 with the winner scoring 14-under or better in three of the six tournaments.
