The Florida Gators are the defending national champions of the college baseball world and have their sights on another title. Florida has made it back to the College World Series as the No. 1 overall seed and are aiming to make it to the national championship series. Florida is one of the favorites to win the national championship and a win in the opening game would be a big help in this double-elimination section of the tournament. The Gators faced off against the Auburn Tigers with a trip to Omaha on the line. Florida won the first game, 8-2, but fell in Game 2 by a score of 3-2. That set up another rubber match and Florida responded with a 3-2 win in 11 innings to advance back to the College World Series and keep alive their dreams of back-to-back national titles.
Texas Tech cruised through its regional with wins over New México State and Louisville twice to face off against Duke in the Super Regionals. Texas Tech won the first game, 6-4, got blown out in the second but captured a 6-2 victory in the do-or-die Game 3 to punch its ticket.
