Old School Meets New School
The Toronto Raptors have to level the series before the scene shifts south for the next two games. Toronto laid an egg in the series opener against the Milwaukee Bucks with the Greek Freak lighting up the home team thanks to his impressive display of skills. Losing this one would put Toronto in a very difficult spot, while a win for Milwaukee would be the first series win for the franchise since 2000-01. Look for a much better performance for Toronto this time around....
The Cleveland Cavaliers just barely squeaked by the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs. CJ Miles had a chance to win the game for the visitors, but his 14-footer ended up missing as time expired. However, the win doesn’t alleviate many of the concerns that Cavaliers fans must have following a disappointing regular season. Cleveland isn’t putting away teams like it was last season and that gives Indiana a real chance heading into Game 2....
The Los Angeles Clippers needed to play perfectly down the stretch to wrest the No. 4 seed away from the Utah Jazz, and that’s what they did. The Clippers won their finals seven games to surge past Utah, which gives them the benefit of hosting the first game between these teams in the Western Conference playoffs....
James Harden and Russell Westbrook have been in the news a lot lately as fans argue over who should be the Most Valuable Player of the regular season. At this point, they are more interested in keeping their seasons alive. Harden’s Houston Rockets will host Westbrook and the Oklahoma City in the first round of what could be a very entertaining playoff series....

The Washington Wizards have been dominant at home this year, and since they have the home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs, continuing that trend will result in success. A grueling 82 game regular season schedule has mercifully come to a close. Some teams have been playing for their playoff lives for weeks, while others coasted to top finishes in their respective divisions to lock down top seeds. Regardless, the records have been reset and anything can happen. It’s tougher for lower seeds to spring upsets in seven-game series, but it’s happened before and it will happen again. With that, let’s go hunting for value on the NBA title futures odds....
Atlanta must play this game and is similarly jockeying for playoff positioning, so both sides may have something to play for in this one. While Indiana has won three straight heading into this matchup, it has a tough matchup and could have trouble wrapping up the win.The Pacers have a large range of outcomes available to them with only two games remaining, able to finish in several different spots in the Eastern Conference seedings or out of the playoffs entirely, so they are hoping to play well to wrap up the season....
Portland has the slightly better record and the home court advantage, so it should be the favorite in this matchup. If the Blazers have their playoff spot wrapped up before this game it’s not out of the question that some of their better players rest, so keep a close eye on that.If Damian Lillard or C.J. McCollum doesn’t play, obviously that will drastically change the situation of the spread and the moneyline....
The Suns’ players will be giving it their all but the team would be happy with a loss in a matchup against the Sacramento Kings to end their season. Between the home court advantage and a superior record, the Kings will likely be small favorites, but they are also a lottery team. There won’t be much motivation for either side in this one, which could make it a tough game to peg. By default, Sacramento will be looked upon as the team which should win....
Minnesota is a lottery team but has gone .500 at home on the season so this should actually be a competitive matchup despite a disparity in the records. The Washington Wizards are safely in the playoffs, but much is still to be determined in the season’s final games. It would be nice to avoid the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first two rounds, and securing the No. 3 seed in the West seems like the best form of action to do so. Washington is currently in a tie with the Toronto Raptors and needs to play well down the stretch....
The Los Angeles Lakers have long been out of the playoff race, but they have wreaked some havoc on it of late. The Lakers are playing well down the stretch, and while it’s not the best thing in terms of their draft lottery odds, the young players are performing well....
They have to hit the road in a crucial game this week against the New York Knicks, but should be the favorites because they are the superior team. Toronto is in a good spot right now in the standings and doesn’t want to fall behind the Wizards. This war on the floor will go down Sunday, April 9, 2017, at 12 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York. The game will be televised live on NBA TV....
The Spurs are locked in to the No. 2 seed in the West no matter what happens the rest of the way, which could lead coach Gregg Popovich to resting some of his important players in this game and others down the stretch.San Antonio would normally be a sizable favorite at home in this matchup against the Clippers, but personnel changes could sway the spread greatly, so keep a close eye on which players are available....
The Cavs control their own destiny but have some tough games remaining, including a road contest against the Atlanta Hawks this week. Atlanta has struggled of late but hopes to pick up a win that would help their playoff positioning and also send a blow to Cleveland.Don't miss the hardwood action from the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 9, 2017. The Phoenix Suns don’t mind losing as they hope to get a good chance at the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, and that’s something they have done with regularity of late. Phoenix has dropped 12 straight games and may not be able to turn that around this week when they face off against the Oklahoma City Thunder....
