The number of countries still playing sports continues to dwindle. Australia postponed its soccer, rugby, and AFL seasons last week, meaning that traditional sports are taking place in just three countries. Belarus’ leader Alexander Lukashenko has insisted that the country will proceed as normal during the coronavirus epidemic, so the country’s hockey and soccer leagues are continuing as normal. Nicaragua’s soccer league continues to play games, and Taiwan’s basketball league is back in action. China and Korea are expected to cautiously bring sports back in April, giving sports fans more options, but the main attraction continues to be Esports. Most Esports leagues are back in full swing, and the playoffs are set to start in both the LEC and LCS this weekend.

Anything other than a sweep here would be a huge surprise. Victory Five is one of the worst teams we have seen in the LPL, and they are currently winless at 0-8. FunPlus Phoenix are the defending world champions, and while they have had some issues, they are still one of the best teams in the world with talent across the lineup.

This might be Rogue Warriors last season in the LPL. It was discovered that jungler Weiyan was trying to fix matches early last week, and he has subsequently been given a two-year ban while the Rogue Warriors were fined more than $400,000 for mishandling the situation. Just two years ago, the future looked bright for this organization as Doinb, Flawless, and Smlz led this team to the semifinals of the Spring Split and Summer Split Playoffs, but their departure at the end of
2018 sent this team into a spiral.

LEC Europe
G2 Esports vs MAD Lions, 12 p.m. ET
Once G2 Esports locked down the No. 1 seed in the LEC, you knew that they would elect to pick the top four team that wasn’t Fnatic or Origen. Although MAD Lions beat G2 earlier in the Spring Split, there is a clear tier system in Europe, and G2, Fnatic, and Origen are all a cut above the rest of the competition. G2 will be a heavy favorite to advance in the winner’s bracket on Friday.
