Saratoga is a bucket list track for countless horse players. In fact, once visited it becomes a repeat on said list. Things may be quarantined for this summer but interest remains high. This weekend is over the top at Bill Parcells’ favorite track. Three Grade 1 races highlight the biggest Saturday card of the summer. But that is not all. Del Mar will be offering two Grade 1 races itself this weekend. On the whole it’s a weekend that will draw new and veteran rail birds alike!
Let’s now take a look at the highlights of this week’s schedule from tracks across North America!
Saratoga – Saratoga Springs, New York – Saturday and Sunday
Of course, Saratoga steals the show with a Saturday card featuring 11 races. Five of them are huge. Starting with the Grade 2 $250,000 Bowling Green. Then there is the $200,000 Caress Stakes. The Grade 1 $300,000 H. Allen Jenkins Memorial Presented by Runhappy ups the ante. Following that are the two biggest races of the day. The Grade 1 $500,000 Personal Ensign and the Grade 1 $750,000 Whitney Stakes. Sunday’s card has 10 races topped by the $75,000 Colleen Stakes.
First place in the Saratoga jockey standings is Irad Ortiz Jr. with over $889,000 in winnings. Ortiz has 66 starts with 14 wins, 10 second, and 10 third place finishes.
Second place belongs to Jose L. Ortiz with over $853,000 in earnings. Ortiz has 73 starts with 16 wins, 13 second, and 10 third place finishes.
In like manner is Joel Rosario with over $845,000 in winnings. Rosario has 58 starts with 13 wins, eight second, and eight third place finishes.
And then there is Javier Castellano with over $615,000 in earnings. Castellano has 45 starts with seven wins, seven second, and seven third place finishes.
Del Mar- Del Mar, California – Saturday and Sunday
Also featuring a big Saturday is Del Mar with 11 races. Three of them are featured. Namely the Grade 1 $250,000 Bing Crosby Stakes is the main event. CTBA is a $100,000 state restricted race. And the Shared Belief Stakes is a $100,000 run too. Yet another big day is scheduled for Sunday with 11 races. Top billing goes to the Grade 1 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes. While Sunday’s Graduation Stakes is worth $100,000.
Flavien Pratt is a Del Mar best $613,000 in winnings. In sum Pratt has 41 starts with 11 wins, nine second and four third place finishes.
Next in the Del Mar jockey standings is Abel Cedillo with over $530,000 in earnings. Cedillo has 64 starts with nine wins, six second, and 16 third place finishes.
Umberto Rispoli is third at the Del Mar jockey ranks with over $503,000 in winnings. Correlate that Rispoli has 46 starts with 13 wins, six second, and five third place finishes.
Monmouth Park – Oceanport, New Jersey – Saturday and Sunday
At the beginning of the weekend at Monmouth Park is 10 races for Saturday. Featured is the Grade 3 $200,000 Monmouth Oaks. Sunday brings 10 more races led by the $75,000 Colleen Stakes.
Gulfstream Park – Hallandale, Florida – Saturday and Sunday
Saturday brings 10 races on the Gulfstream Park card. Most important of all are two races that day. The $100,000 FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes Desert Vixen and Dr. Fager Divisions. Sunday offers 10 more races.
Woodbine – Rexdale, Ontario – Saturday and Sunday
In like manner does Woodbine have an attractive Saturday card for the Horse Betting Odds. Most of all action will go to the $150,000 Greenwood Stakes. And the My Dear Stakes is for $100,000. Sunday has 10 races headlined by the $100,000 Victoria Stakes.
Rafael Manuel Hernandez leads the Woodbine jockeys with over $1.5 million in earnings. Hernandez has 198 starts with 44 wins, 30 second, and 22 third place finishes.
