This week offers a loaded lineup of weekday horse racing action from all of the best tracks in North America. But Saratoga will set itself apart with three days of world class action starting on Wednesday and ending on a Friday spectacular. Summer meets are winding down and the tracks are putting their best races and schedules of the year on now to make sure everyone leaves on a good note. Saratoga offers some of the best jockeys and trainers in the entire sport which further adds to its considerable cache with gamblers.
Let’s now take a look at the highlights of this week’s schedule from tracks across North America!
Saratoga – Saratoga Springs, New York – Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
Saratoga opens the week on Wednesday with a total of 10 races headlined by the $100,000 Grade 3 With Anticipation Stakes. Thursday brings 10 more races on the Saratoga card with two feature races. Those would be the $100,000 New York Stallion Stakes and the $100,000 P.G. Johnson Stakes. And then on Friday Saratoga gets the Labor Day weekend started off in grand style with 10 races and six features, all of which are worth $150,000 per race. Those races are the Albany Stakes, Fleet Indian Stakes, Funny Cide Stakes, Seeking the Ante Stakes, West Point Handicap, and Yaddo Handicap.
First place in the jockey standings at Saratoga is Irad Ortiz Jr. with over $3.5 million in earnings. Ortiz has a total of 217 starts with 45 wins, 41 second and 31 third place finishes.
Saratoga’s second place jockey is Jose L. Ortiz with over $2.9 million in winnings. Ortiz has 210 starts with 44 wins, 39 second, and 28 third place finishes.
Third place belongs to jockey Joel Rosario with over $2.7 million in winnings. Rosario has 188 starts with 42 wins, 28 second, and 32 third place finishes.
Luis Saez is the fourth-place jockey at Saratoga with over $2.1 million in earnings. Saez has 168 starts with 29 wins, 31 second, and 19 third place finishes.
Chad C. Brown is the top trainer at Saratoga with over $2.1 million in earnings. Brown has 110 starts with 23 wins, 21 second, and 28 third place finishes.
Todd A. Pletcher is next in the trainer rankings at Saratoga with over $1.5 million in winnings. Pletcher has 90 starts with 24 wins, 16 second, and nine third place finishes.
Gulfstream Park – Hallandale, Florida – Friday
Friday brings us 10 races on the Gulfstream Park card.
Del Mar- Del Mar, California – Friday
Friday’s Del Mar card has a total of 12 races headlined by the $100,000 I’m Smoking Stakes.
Arlington Park - Arlington Heights, Illinois – Thursday and Friday
There are eight races on the Arlington Park card for both Thursday and Friday.
Monmouth Park – Oceanport, New Jersey – Friday
Friday brings a total of 10 races to the Monmouth card for Friday.
Woodbine – Rexdale, Ontario – Thursday and Friday
Eight races are on the Woodbine card for Thursday with nine more races on Friday.
Laurel Park – Laurel, Maryland – Thursday and Friday
There are 10 races on the Laurel Park card for both Thursday and Friday.
Delaware Park – Wilmington, Delaware – Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Monday begins the week at Delaware Park with 10 races on the card. Then there are 10 more races each day for Wednesday and Thursday.
Parx Racing – Bensalem, Pennsylvania – Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
Parx will get the week started off with 11 races on the card for Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday bring 12 more races each day.
Prairie Meadows - Altoona, Iowa – Monday and Friday
Monday has nine races on the schedule at Prairie Meadows. While Friday has a loaded card of 12 races on the schedule.
