Excitement is building as Belmont Park has opened its fall meet which will include weekday action. This week Belmont Park will run on Thursday and Friday. So too is another iconic track, Churchill Downs, scheduling weekday racing action on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Both Belmont Park and Churchill Downs feature the best trainers and jockeys in the world. Not to mention world class horses. Fans of Horse Racing will thrill to the quality racing action these tracks provide. But there is plenty more weekday action being offered at all of the top North American tracks.
Let’s now take a look at the highlights of this week’s schedule from tracks across North America!
Churchill Downs – Louisville, Kentucky – Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
Nine races are on the Churchill Downs card for Wednesday and Thursday with 10 races scheduled for Friday.
So far at Churchill Downs the lead jockey is John R Velazquez with over $2.3 million in earnings. Velazquez has 16 starts with two wins, two second, and five third place finishes. He has a win percentage of 13% and a top three finish rate of 56%.
Florent Geroux is the second place jockey at Churchill Downs with over $1.8 million in earnings. Geroux has 27 starts with seven wins, four second, and one third place finish. He owns a track best win percentage of 26% and a top three finish rate of 53%.
Javier Castellano has over $1.3 million in earnings as the third place jockey at Churchill Downs. Castellano has 19 starts with four wins, four second, and two third place finishes. His win rate is 21% and he has a top three finish rate of 53%.
Belmont Park – Elmont, New York – Thursday and Friday
Thursday opens the Belmont Park week with a total of nine races on the schedule. Friday features 10 races on the Belmont Park card with the main event being the $80,000 Miner’s Mark Stakes.
At the last Belmont summer meet Irad Ortiz Jr. was lead jockey with over $2.1 million in earnings. Ortiz has 128 starts with 34 wins, 23 second, and 13 third place finishes. His win rate was 27% with a top three finish rate of 55%.
The second place jockey last meet at Belmont was Jose L. Ortiz with over $1.9 million in earnings. Ortiz had 157 stars with 32 wins, 31 second, and 22 third place finishes. His win percentage was 20% with a top three finish rate of 54%.
Gulfstream Park – Hallandale, Florida – Thursday and Friday
Ten races are on the Thursday Gulfstream Park schedule with 10 more races on the Friday ledger.
Parx Racing – Bensalem, Pennsylvania – Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
11 races are on the Monday card at Parx Racing with 11 more races on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
Arlington Park - Arlington Heights, Illinois – Thursday and Friday
There is a total of eight races scheduled on both Thursday and Friday at Arlington Park.
Woodbine – Rexdale, Ontario – Thursday and Friday
Thursday’s Woodbine schedule has a total of eight races with nine more races on the slate for Friday.
Remington Park – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
Nine races are on the Remington Park schedule for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. There are three feature races on the Friday card, each worth $70,000. Those are the Bob Berry Memorial Stakes, the Red Earth Stakes, and the Remington Park Turf Sprint Stakes.
Golden Gate Fields – Albany, California – Thursday and Friday
Seven races are on Thursday’s Golden Gate schedule with eight more races set for Friday.
Delaware Park – Wilmington, Delaware – Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
Ten races each are scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at Delaware Park.
Prairie Meadows - Altoona, Iowa – Monday and Friday
10 races are on the Monday Prairie Meadows card with 11 more races scheduled for Friday.
