The strong summer momentum of horse racing continues this weekend with four major tracks in action including nine graded stakes races leading the lineup. In particular, the Churchill Downs and Belmont Park cards offer outstanding Saturday lineups. Specifically, America’s top two tracks will each have four graded races each on their respective Saturday cards. Churchill Downs – Louisville, Kentucky – Saturday and Sunday
Saturday will feature 11 races on the loaded Churchill Downs card that features four graded races. Specifically, those would be the $125,000 Grade 3 Bashford Manor Stakes, the $300,000 Grade 2 Fleur de Lis, the $100,000 Grade 3 Regret Stakes, and the $700,000 Grade 2 Stephen Foster. Sunday offers nine more races on the Churchill Downs card.
First place jockey at Churchill Downs is Tyler Gaffalione with over $1.4 million in earnings. In 130 starts Gaffalione has 27 wins, 30 second, and 15 third-place finishes.
Second place at Churchill Downs is Corey J. Lanerie with over $1.2 million in earnings. Lanerie has 140 starts with 21 wins, 16 second, and 22 third-place finishes.
Ricardo Santana Jr. has over $844,000 in earnings which is good for third place in the jockey standings at Churchill Downs. Santana has 105 starts with 16 wins, 10 second, and 15 third-place finishes.
Belmont Park – Elmont, New York – Saturday and Sunday
Its another big Saturday at Belmont Park starting with 11 races that include four graded races. The big four on the list include the Grade 1 $300,000 Just a Game, the $250,000 Grade 2 New York, the $150,000 Grade 2 True North, and the Grade 3 $100,000 Vagrancy Handicap. Sunday offers nine more races including the $100,000 Bouwerie.
Leading the jockey standings at Belmont Park is Manuel Franco with over $1.1 million in earnings. Franco has 101 starts with nine wins, 12 second, and 15 third place finishes.
Second place at Belmont Park in the jockey standings is Joel Rosario with over $1 million in earnings. Rosario has 86 starts with 13 wins, 13 second, and 14 third place finishes.
Irad Ortiz Jr. is in third in the Belmont Park jockey standings with over $1 million in earnings. In 60 starts he has 18 wins, eight second, and eight third place finishes.
Fourth place Jose L. Ortiz is also in the mix at Belmont with over $1 million in earnings. Ortiz has 96 starts with 16 wins, 17 second, and 18 third place finishes.
Gulfstream Park – Hallandale, Florida – Saturday and Sunday
Saturday at Gulfstream Park will feature 12 races with 10 more races scheduled for Sunday.
