This weekend belongs to Belmont Park where on Saturday it will offer a lineup that is unsurpassed anywhere at any track for the entire year. Of course, highlighting the entire weekend is the $1 million Grade 1 Belmont Stakes. This kicks off the most unique Triple Crown racing season of all time. Normally the Belmont is the third and final race of the Triple Crown series. Thus, its moniker of being “The Test of the Champion.” However, this year it will go first due to COVID-19 flipping the script in every aspect of sports. Another factor to consider is that the Belmont Stakes is usually a mile and a half marathon in length. This year it will be a shorter mile and an eighth.
Let’s now take a look at the highlights of this week’s schedule from tracks across North America!

Tiz the Law
Tiz the Law is well rested having last run on March 28 in a Grade 1 win at the Florida Derby. Prior to that was a Grade 3 win in the Holy Bull on February 1. Both of those races took place at Gulfstream Park. A win in the October 5 Grade 1 Champagne at Belmont may impress handicappers as much as anything on the resume. That’s because it was on the same track as Saturday’s race. Overall Tiz the Law has four wins in five starts with over $945,000 in earnings.
Sole Volante
With four wins in six starts, Sole Volante will draw plenty of betting action. His last time out was an allowance win at Gulfstream Park on June 10. By having such a recent run Sole Volante is set apart from more rested competitors. For his career Sole Volante has over $293,000 in earnings. But his best win was at the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis on February 8.
Dr. Post
Due to back to back wins in his last two starts has Dr. Post attracted attention. Dr. Post is coming off an April 25 win at the Unbridled at Gulfstream Park. In sum Dr. Post has over $76,000 in earnings. What has bettors concerned is the fact that he is yet to run in a graded stakes race.
Tap it to Win
Tap it to Win got the draw for the number one starting position for Saturday’s Belmont. He has career earnings of over $124,000. Tap it to Win has two wins in his last two starts. His most recent race was June 4 with an allowance win at Belmont Park that was a mile and sixteenth in length. Before that was a May 9 six-furlong allowance win at Gulfstream Park. Offsetting those wins is a 10th place finish in the Grade 1 Breeders Futurity on October 5.
