The one sport that never cracked or caved in will offer its biggest weekend of the year so far. In particular Saturday will be a loaded lineup with multiple stakes races. Highlighting it all will be the Santa Anita Derby, which is one of the biggest and most prestigious races annually each year. Also sparking excitement is the fact that Woodbine returns to bring a Canadian flair to the racing board. Still, no track can top the Santa Anita card and its whopping total of seven stakes races for Saturday. Now let’s take a look at tremendous weekend at the tracks!

Churchill Downs – Louisville, Kentucky – Saturday and Sunday
Overall, there will be 11 races on the Saturday Churchill Downs card. Featured for the day is the $100,000 Aristides and $100,000 Dogwood. Sunday brings 10 more races on the card at Churchill Downs. This track that is home of the Kentucky Derby boasts among the finest horses, trainers and jockeys in all of North America.
Santa Anita Park – Arcadia, California – Saturday and Sunday
Saturday is over the top at Santa Anita with a total of 12 races on the card. It is a day not to be missed with a buffet of big races. Included on the menu is the $150,000 Cinema Stakes, $100,000 Crystal Wager Stakes, and $75,000 Desert Cod Stakes. More big-time races include the $100,000 Fran’s Valentine Stakes and $300,000 Hollywood Gold Cup. The Biggest race of the day is the $400,000 Santa Anita Derby. While the Santa Anita Oaks is $200,000. It simply does not get any bigger or better for Southern California racing.
Not to be forgotten is that Sunday will bring 10 more races to Santa Anita. Namely the $200,000 Triple Bend Stakes is the headliner. With this weekend lineup the betting handle will be over the top.
First in the Santa Anita jockey standings is Flavien Pratt with over $3.4 million in earnings. Prat has 266 starts with 66 wins, 47 second and 43 third place finishes. His win percentage is 25% with a top three finish rate of 59%.
Second place in the jockey standings is Abel Cedillo with over $3.3 million in earnings. He has 342 starts with 55 wins, 54 second and 45 third place finishes. Cedillo has a win percentage of 16% with a 45% top three finish rate.
Joel Rosario is in third place among Santa Anita jockeys. He has 152 starts with 38 wins, 35 second, and 23 third place finishes. Rosario has a win percentage of 25% and a track high 63% top three finish rate. In total, Rosario has total winnings of over $2.1 million.
Gulfstream Park – Hallandale, Florida – Saturday and Sunday
Saturday is a big day with 10 races at Gulfstream. Included is the $75,000 Game Face, $100,000 Ginger Punch, and $100,000 Soldier’s Dance. Subsequently Sunday brings a total of 10 more races on the card at Gulfstream Park.
Belmont Park – Elmont, New York – Saturday and Sunday
Saturday is also a big one at Belmont Park with a total of nine races. Starting with the $150,000 Fort Marcy are four key races. The $100,000 Intercontinental, $250,000 Runhappy Carter Handicap and the $100,000 Westchester enhance the Saturday Belmont card.
Next for Sunday is nine more races. Headlining the card is the $80,000 First Defence.
Woodbine – Rexdale, Ontario – Saturday and Sunday
Canada’s top track features 11 races on Saturday highlighted by the $500,000 Woodbine Stakes. Additionally, on the card is the $175,000 Eclipse Stakes, $150,000 Greenwood Stakes, and $150,000 Plate Trial Stakes. Sunday will offer 11 more races including the $125,000 Hendrie Stakes.
