Taking a page out of another league’s playbook, the NBA has all 30 teams on the court on Sunday, April 14 in the final day of the regular season. There will be two different start times for the 15-game slate with no rest advantage for any club since they all were off the day before. That gives us something to consider when building a winning NBA parlay. The playoff picture is becoming clearer with a few more teams officially clinching a spot relegating others to the play-in tournament. However, seedings in both conferences remain a mystery, but that will all be determined on Sunday.
All Eastern Conference games will start at 1 p.m. ET with a few likely having an impact on the postseason. One game that won’t affect the standings is the matchup between Boston and Washington. The Celtics secured the NBA’s best record while the Wizards attempt to hold off Detroit and stay out of the basement. Boston goes for the season sweep having covered in two of three earlier matchups. All Western Conference games and the inter conference tilt between Detroit and San Antonio tip off at 3:30 p.m. ET. I’ll make my NBA parlay picks but waiting to see what happens ahead of Sunday’s games is a good betting strategy.

I came close to hitting a three-team NBA parlay last week with only the Golden State Warriors preventing me from a healthy payout. I backed the Dubs -13 against Utah and they won by eight after getting outscored 33-21 in the fourth quarter. I originally had four wagers on the ticket getting a push when the Celtics beat Portland by the exact spread number. Orlando continues to make a solid profit on the betting line covering in a win over Chicago and the Sixers without Joel Embiid outlasted San Antonio.
I’ll end the season in grand style with another four-team NBA parlay. With Embiid resting last week the Sixers earned a payout win against the Spurs. They can still reach the top six and hosting Brooklyn gives them a chance. Beating Detroit on Tuesday was Philly’s sixth straight with payouts in their last eight games. I’m backing the Sixers against the line in this one.
Another matchup in the East between teams that will play after Sunday has Chicago at New York. The teams have become quite familiar with each other with this being the third meeting in 10 days. They split the first two, both in Chicago, and the Knicks are trying to clinch homecourt for the first round. The Bulls are locked in to the play-in tournament and their mediocre offense will have problems solving the Knicks defense which is why I’m leaning toward the UNDER.
The Lakers have done two things well over the last six weeks. They’ve scored a lot of points and allowed opponents to do the same. Since early March they’ve cashed the OVER in 12 of 17 games and own the second-best OVER percentage in the entire NBA. The previous two meetings exceeded the point total and there’s a good chance this one does as well.
A lot of teams have gotten healthy against Portland and the Sacramento Kings have a chance to gain some momentum heading into the postseason. I expect the Kings to regroup during a season-closing three-game homestand after winning just once during a four-game road trip.
