A slim NBA schedule of six games, including a TNT doubleheader, is available on Thursday, March 14 to build a winning NBA parlay. The number of games is few but the matchups are excellent, highlighted by the Phoenix Suns at Boston Celtics matchup at 7:30 p.m. ET on TNT. The Celtics are back home having completed a six-game road trip that saw them lose the first two games followed by a pair of double-digit payout wins over the Suns and Portland. They say the hardest game is the first one at home following a road trip so there could be value backing Kevin Durant and his mates.
Luka Doncic has been on a tear and he leads his Mavericks into a showdown with West leading Oklahoma City in the second TNT game of the night. Tipoff is slated for 10 p.m. ET. The Thunder continue to win games but had a bad week at the betting window going 1-4 ATS prior to a payout victory over Memphis on Sunday. Still, the Thunder are the second biggest money-maker in the NBA cashing out in 62 percent of their games. We also have a clash between East rivals Philadelphia and Milwaukee. The Sixers have struggled without Joel Embiid falling to sixth in the East. Milwaukee’s commitment to defense has me seriously looking at backing the UNDER.

That winning parlay slipped through fingers last week as I once again was successful on three of my four picks. As we know that just isn’t good enough and I’ll have to press forward with hopes of cashing that winning ticket this week. I did win a same-game parlay when the Minnesota Timberwolves covered and played below the total in their 113-111 win against the Pacers. My only loss was backing the Warriors, who couldn’t put the Bulls away and lost Steph Curry in the process. Things may have turned out differently had Curry finished the game, but we’ll never know.
We haven’t seen what the Suns have to offer since the roster has been in constant flux since the season started. There have been glimpses and Kevin Durant is a scoring machine. They did just lose to the Celtics 117-107 as a 5-point dog and failed to cover in three straight games, though they have beaten Denver and Cleveland, two decent clubs, in the past weeks. They were without Devin Booker in the first meeting but he returned to drop 27 on the Cavs a few days later and there’s always a letdown when a team is back home after a road trip allowing the Suns to take advantage for a point spread win.
In two earlier meetings the Mavs and Thunder put up a lot of points. And with a scorching hot Luka Doncic there’s a chance for more of the same. Hell, Doncic picks up triple-doubles like Draymond Green gets technical fouls so there’s a prop option in there as well. Toss in OKC’s efficient offense that leads the NBA in free throw and three-point percentage and ranks among the top three in overall field goal accuracy and scoring, it makes sense to back the OVER.
The New York at Portland game didn’t really interest me from a results standpoint, but from a betting perspective I had to take a closer look. Holding two straight opponents to less than 80 points is quite an accomplishment and the Blazers aren’t exactly a scoring machine. That also leaves plenty of wiggle room for the Knicks to play around on offense and with Jalen Brunson back in the lineup they should score more. It’s been a lean year for Portland and the Knicks need to win games like this, which is why I’m betting on it.
