With the 2023-24 NBA regular season quickly coming to a close, we’re getting short on time to cash a winning NBA parlay. Thankfully we have seven games to work with on Thursday, March 21 if you’d rather watch and wager on the professionals. March Madness will dominate the betting landscape this weekend, but the Association has its own chaos with several teams fighting for playoff positioning in action. The slate is highlighted by a NBA TV doubleheader that starts with an interconference feud between clubs looking to keep their standing as a top six in their respective conference.
Entering the week fifth in the Eastern Conference, the Orlando Magic are on a roll with 11 wins in their last 14 games while going 10-4 ATS in that span. They are the most profitable team in the NBA with a cover rate of 66.2 percent. Closing the week with back-to-back home wins over the LA Clippers and Phoenix, the New Orleans Pelicans are fifth in the West going 6-1 SU and ATS in their last seven games. The doubleheader concludes at 10:30 p.m. ET with Phoenix hosting Atlanta. The Hawks conclude a five-game road trip and they are one of the least profitable road teams in the NBA going 12-22 against the line.

Since it’s all about winning NBA parlays I had another bad last week. But I will take the minor feel-good bits knowing that for the second straight Thursday I had three winners on my four-team ticket. I thought the Suns would show up for their game against the best team in the league but that didn’t work out with a 127-112 loss to Boston. I backed the Suns +5.5 and suffered my only loss. Dallas and OKC can score so backing the OVER was a good deal and it worked with the teams combining for 245 points to exceed the total by 11.5 points.
The game between the Pelicans and Magic interests me. Both are well over .500 and firmly entrenched in the top 6 in their conference. This is the first meeting of the season and Orlando has been good at home with a record of 23-9. However, they’ve had the easiest post-break schedule and took advantage with 10 wins in 13 games since the All-Star game. They’re a work in progress offensively and I have a hard time trusting them against a strong club, but I’m taking the leap in this one based on their solid D, home record, and the fact they earn payouts at the highest clip in the NBA.
The hottest team entering the week is Houston with their five straight wins putting them on the play-in radar. They still have a few games to make up on the 10th place Lakers but they are playing their best ball of the season with seven wins in eight March games along with seven payouts. Jalen Green has picked up the slack offensively averaging nearly 25 points this month.
A few months ago the Jazz were on fire making a run for a playoff spot. But the season is a marathon not a sprint and the club’s lack of depth was exposed when leading scorer Lauri Markkanen suffered injury concerns. Losses last week to Boston and Minnesota gave Utah nine straight against teams that currently have a winning record and the Mavs are in that group 10 games over the break-even point. When the teams met in Dallas in December, the Mavs cruised to a 147-97 victory and Utah’s defense remains a concern. The Jazz rank last in defensive efficiency since the break and you know Luka Doncic and Kyrie will take advantage.
