Los Angeles Kings
Edmonton Oilers
Philadelphia Flyers
Vegas Golden Knights
Payout: $100 to win $1200
Following a 20-7-4 start, the Los Angeles Kings have been in free fall. Sadly, head coach Todd McClellan was fired during the All-Star break in his fifth season with the club. He was replaced by interim HC Hiller, who split his first two games.
Los Angeles was once a sure thing for the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Now they are barely hanging on for a wild card spot. But the Kings play their best hockey on the road. Los Angeles is 15-7-4 on enemy ice. The Boston Bruins will certainly be an overpriced home favorite flush with casual cash flooding the betting window.
They have solid metrics of 6th for goals against, 1st for penalty killing, and 15th for goal scoring out of 32 teams.
It will surprise nobody if the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers clash in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs on the Western Conference side. Following a 3-9-1 start that cost Jay Woodcroft his job, new head coach Kris Knoblauch engineered a remarkable turnaround mark of 28-8 to put Edmonton in third place in the Pacific Division. What is most remarkable is the defensive turnaround of the Oil. Edmonton ranks 9th for goals against while still lighting the lamp regularly, with marks of 7th for goals scored and 3rd for power play efficiency. Edmonton will offer better value as the quality road team with the best player on the ice, Connor McDavid.
The Philadelphia Flyers are the surprise story of the season. While not a strong offensive club, head coach John Tortorella has engineered a remarkable defensive turnaround. Philadelphia holds the third slot in the Metropolitan Division standings and is 15-7-4 away from home. New Jersey is fighting for the final Eastern Conference wild card spot and has been plagued by inconsistency. The Devils rank an abysmal 26th for goals against.
The Vegas Golden Knights offer good value on home ice with a mark of 19-6-2. The Carolina Hurricanes are a lackluster 13-11-1 on road ice. Early in the season, the Golden Knights were suffering from a Stanley Cup championship hangover and played like it. But now head coach Bruce Cassidy’s team is clamping down and has lost only two of its last ten games.
