Not only are the Florida Panthers challenging for the best record in the NHL but they are an outstanding value on the road. Florida is 20-8-2 on road ice. Just as impressive is that the Panthers are printing money in recent weeks. Florida has seen the payout window in 12 of its last 14 games. Also, Florida went over the total in two of its most recent 12 games.
The Panthers are air-tight on the defensive end of the ice. Florida ranks 2nd in the NHL for goals against and 7th for penalty killing. Number one goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has a .916 save percentage and 2.35 goals against average with three shutouts. Backup Anthony Stolarz has an even better .925 save percentage and 1.97 goals against average with one shutout.
Detroit has gone under the total in ten of its last 17 games. The Red Wings are also in good form, with seven payouts in its last ten games. Of great concern is that Detroit ranks 20th for goals against and 26th for shots allowed.
Florida has dominated their series with the Red Wings. Florida got the money in 17 of their last 20 games against Detroit. Only three of the last 18 games in this series went over the total. Florida is riding a 5-game winning streak at Little Caesars Arena. Only one of the last four games in this series at Detroit went over the total. Florida is in better form and is the better team. Finally, the Panthers will get the more favorable price and value as the power road team.
The Buffalo Sabres are not a reliable betting value on home ice. The Sabres are in the red at 13-16-1 at KeyBank Center. Buffalo is also underwater overall this season at 27-28-4. The big problem for the Sabres is a lack of offensive pop. Buffalo ranks 24th for goal scoring and 27th for power play efficiency. Buffalo went under the total in eight of its previous ten games.
The defending Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights are 22-19-7. The Golden Knights rank a solid 9th in the NHL for goals against. Offensively, Vegas ranks a mediocre 15th for goals scored. Only two of the last five games in this series at Buffalo went over the total.
Vegas will get a price break, thus offering more value as the quality road team.
