Esports Futures Betting
With so many tournaments across too many Esports to count at times, there are plenty of options available for Esports Futures betting. Things typically pick up around the summer and early fall, but there are tournaments year round if you know where to look. As Esports comes more and more into the mainstream, there will be more and more things to look forward to when it comes to betting on Esports Futures.
Overview
The granddaddy of them all is DOTA 2’s The International. The International has been an institution on the Esports scene since 2011, when it began to allow fans to up the ante in the prize pool by buying selected skins. Ever since then, the prize pool for this tournament has grown exponentially.
Last year, the tournament topped $20 million in prize money for the first time and this year the tournament almost went over the $25 million mark. The Chinese teams have dominated The International historically, but a European team has won the last two competitions to prove that the Chinese sides aren’t untouchable.
League of Legends is the hottest game going right now, so it’s no surprise that the World Championship is also one of the most popular Esports Futures to bet on. The 2018 League of Legends World Championship had the largest purse of any Esports event outside The International with $6.45 million in prize money distributed, and that number is expected to grow even more in the coming years.
South Korea had won five straight World Championships prior to last year when the country hosted the event for just the second time ever. Invictus Gaming became the first Chinese team to win Worlds, and their victory capped a great year for Chinese teams in international competitions.
CS:GO has a number of tournaments throughout the year. This year, Astralis went down as the best CS:GO team of all-time. The Danish organization won the first-ever CS:GO Grand Slam and claimed a half-dozen Premier titles when it was all said and done.
The biggest tournaments for CS:GO are the DreamHack tournaments that take place all across the world. They are named after the place where the first CS:GO tournament was held and all of them have prize pools of at least $100,000.
Why Futures
Futures betting is one of the safest things you can do is a gambler. Often times you can get a great number before anyone catches on to it if you keep an eye on Futures betting windows to open up. The stories of this in traditional sports are endless and it’s the same with the big tournaments in Esports too. These lines are put up and forgotten about and only adjusted from time to time.
There’s a lot of fluidity on the rosters of most Esports teams, and that leads to opportunities. A team can be dissatisfied with its performance in one split and then decide to entirely mix up its roster prior to its next outing. This happens often in CS:GO and League of Legends and you can lock in a good price with futures.
No Signs of Slowing Down
At this point, Esports aren’t a bubble, they are here to stay. There are too many Esports that have too many people watching them for this to ever go away, so even if you are an old school gambler, you need to jump on the bandwagon. There is a video game for every genre and something that every viewer can get into no matter who you are.
As more and more video games develop Esports communities, there will be more and more chances to bet on individual matches and futures betting too. Although some games are very similar, others are totally different, and comparing them would be like comparing horseback riding to basketball. Get ahead of the curve and start learning about all these different Esports and the teams that dominate them.
