Columbus Crew MLS Betting
We are continuing to see the Columbus Crew revamp their roster. A lot has changed with this team since they won the 2020 MLS Cup, as they have their eyes on long-term competitiveness and success. To that end, they acquired Montreal Impact manager Wilfried Nancy for a reported six-figure sum back in December as he is considered one of the best developmental coaches in the game. Nancy will be given plenty of time to mold Columbus into a quality squad, and there is reason to be very optimistic about the future of the Crew.

Columbus Crew 2023 Preview
A lot of long-time Columbus players left the club this offseason. Jonathan Mensah and Artur were traded away after six seasons with the team, while Pedro Santos and Derrick Etienne Jr. were allowed to leave in free agency. That makes Lucas Zelarayan and Darlington Nagbe the club veterans and team leaders after both players were brought in before the 2020 campaign. Zelarayan is the team’s primary playmaker and has notched 28 goals and 25 assists in three seasons with the team. Meanwhile, Nagbe is a solid two-way midfielder that has been more keen to defend as he has gotten older.
MLS veteran Jimmy Medranda was signed by Columbus in the offseason and is expected to play a prominent role on the left side of the formation. Christian Ramirez could be one of the top scorers for the Crew this season too after returning to the US from Aberdeen FC. Ramirez has averaged a goal every three games during his time in the MLS.

Columbus is one of the most successful clubs in the history of the MLS. They won the Supporters’ Shield in 2004, 2008, and 2009, the US Open Cup in 2002, and the MLS Cup in 2008 and 2020. This was the first franchise to build a soccer-specific stadium back in 1999, and the Crew have made the postseason 15 times in their illustrious history.
Despite their success, the Columbus Crew were nearly moved to Austin in the mid-2010s. Anthony Precourt bought the club from the Hunt family in 2013, and he quickly became the most unpopular owner in the league after trying to move one of the founding clubs of the MLS despite its success and commitment to the community. Fortunately, Jimmy Haslam bought the Crew and committed to keeping the team in Columbus on January 1, 2019. The Crew rewarded Haslam by winning their second MLS Cup in 2020.
