CF Montréal MLS Betting
The 2022 season was the best in CF Montréal’s history in the MLS. The club won 20 games for the first time since joining the league, and they finished with the third-best record in the MLS during the regular season. CF Montréal will look to build on that success in 2023, but the club will have to do it without manager Wilfried Nancy. One of the top coaches in the league had a falling out with ownership and is now the head coach of the Columbus Crew.

CF Montréal 2023 Preview
Although Wilfried Nancy is gone, CF Montréal still have a lot of talent and return eight starters from last year’s team. However, the three starters that are no longer with the club were all very good. Djordje Mihailovic, Ismael Kone, and Alistair Johnson were all transferred to European clubs, and while that helps CF Montréal’s bottom line, it could hurt the product on the field during the 2023 campaign. Reserve forward Kei Kamara was traded away just before the start of the season too.
CF Montréal decided to focus on its back line this offseason. The front office traded for Real Salt Lake right back Aaron Herrera and Atlanta United center back George Campbell, and both players are expected to see a good chunk of playing time. It might be difficult for the club to transition to new head coach Hernan Losada’s extreme pressing style though. Losada had a good amount of early success at DC United with his system, but it quickly wore on his players, and he was sacked shortly into his second season with the club.

The Montreal Impact existed before the creation of Major League Soccer, they just played in a different league. The Impact joined the American Professional Soccer League in 1992, and they were quickly able to establish themselves as a team to reckon with after winning the league in 1994. They finished with the best regular season record for the next three seasons, but they were unable to repeat as champions in the postseason.
In 2000, Montreal joined the United Soccer League. It took a couple seasons for the Impact to get going in that league, but they eventually started winning in 2003. They finished with the best regular season record for four straight seasons from 2003 to 2006, winning the league in 2004 and again in 2009.
Over time, support for the Impact grew to the point that the Impact started pursuing a route into Major League Soccer. Montreal was awarded an MLS franchise in 2010, and they began playing in the league in 2012. The club has made it to the playoffs three times since it joined the MLS, with its best finish coming in 2016 when Montreal made it to the Eastern Conference Final.
The Impact have had more success in other competitions. Montreal won the Canadian Championship in 2013 and 2014, and then the club made one of the most incredible runs in the brief history of the CONCACAF Champions League. The Impact were able to knock Liga MX giants Pachuca out of the tournament en route to becoming the first Canadian team to ever make it to the Champions League Final. There, they lost to Club America, but it was a shot across the bow to the rest of North America.
They changed their name from the Montreal Impact to the more Quebecois friendly CF Montréal in 2021.
