Atlanta Drive Golf Club Players

Justin Thomas: became the eighth son of a PGA professional to win the PGA Championship when he won the Wanamaker Trophy in 2017. Thomas has 15 PGA Tour wins, two PGA championships, and was the 2017 FedEx Cup champion. Thomas should thrive in this environment. He will almost certainly liberally use the Hammer as much as possible, and his short game magic – Gamblers are not sure anyone has a wider variety of short game shots – should be on full display when his team gets to the GreenZone.

Patrick Cantlay: has eight official PGA TOUR victories and was a member of winning US Ryder Cup (2020) and Presidents Cup (2019 & 2022) teams. He was the 2021 FedExCup champion. He is among the best all-around players of the last decade, so it isn’t easy to see how he will be anything but excellent for Atlanta Drive. Cantlay is quite an underrated driver, and gamblers believe they will lean on him a bit in that area when it comes to the three-player alternate shot portion of the matches. He’s also a difficult match play player to play one-on-one and will be a matchup absolutely nobody in the league will be excited to face.

Billy Horschel: has eight PGA Tour wins, was the 2014 FedExCup champion, and was the 2024 BMW PGA Championship winner. Horschel’s career has been amazing. He has been astonishingly consistent for the last 12 years on the PGA TOUR and consistently puts up the same numbers year after year after year. Atlanta Drive will no doubt lean on him for consistency and experience. He has not been a part of as many international team competitions as others, but he loves competing alongside teammates. He’ll get deep on strategizing and might end up talking throughout the entire competition every week.

Lucas Glover: has six PGA Tour wins and won the 2009 US Open. He may have won the Wyndham Championship and FedExCup St. Jude Championship in back-to-back weeks in 2023, but 2024 was actually the best Glover's been overall in five years on the PGA TOUR. That’s an encouraging sign for Atlanta Drive as they head into their first season. On a team of flushers, Glover is arguably the most that way. Thomas, Cantlay and Horschel have great short games overall and probably will be relied upon more in those areas, but Glover can not only hang when it comes to ball-striking but should be among the best in the league.

TGL matches will take place over 15 holes and two sessions. Players will hit full-swing shots off grass, rough, or sand into a simulator screen. Short-game shots under 50 yards and putts will take place inside the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, on a rotating, adjustable green.

Enhanced simulator golf matches will last roughly two hours and will take place primarily in primetime on Monday or Tuesday nights from January through March. There will be 15 regular-season matches, a four-team playoff, and a best-of-three final that will crown the first TGL champion.

Matches will be played over 15 holes and split up into two playing formats. The first session will see teams work together in an alternate shot-style format before transitioning to singles matches for the second session. The team with the most points at the end of the match will win. Similar to hockey, TGL match wins are worth two points, overtime losses are worth one point, and regulation losses are worth zero points.
