In a nod to Boston's communal spirit and to reinforce a team purpose centered on accessibility, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) has officially unveiled the brand identity for its tech-forward TGL golf team, Boston Common Golf. Boston Common Golf pays homage to the city’s iconic public space and reinforces the vision of accessibility to the game, which drives TGL’s new, tech-forward golf league. The Boston Common, located at the heart of the city, is the country’s first public park and remains a place both for Boston to play and a powerful symbol of unity to inspire. Boston Common Golf is part of Fenway Sports Group, a global sports, marketing, media, entertainment, and real estate company anchored by three iconic clubs: the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool Football Club, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. FSG’s portfolio includes two of the world’s most historic venues, Fenway Park and Anfield Stadium, NASCAR’s RFK Racing, NESN, Fenway Sports Management (FSM), and Fenway Sports Group Real Estate (FSGRE).

Boston Common Golf Players

Rory McIlroy: has 26 career PGA Tour wins, four major wins, and three FedEx Cup championships. McIlroy is the straw that stirs the drink. On the DP World Tour, on the PGA TOUR, at the Ryder Cup, and wherever he goes, his role on the Ballfrogs is no different. Everything revolves around Rory. Again, sometimes this is explicit—his captains and teammates literally say it. Other times, it’s beneath the surface. Regardless, it’s always there.

Because this is true, the level McIlroy continues to play at can sometimes get a bit lost. It’s been outrageous, though. He has been a top 20 player in the world for pretty much his entire professional career. That is so unusual, and he’s coming off a 2024 in which he was just as good at age 35 as he was in 2011 when he was just 21-years-old. That consistency is emblematic of what he will bring to the Ballfrogs on a micro level throughout the season.

Hideki Matsuyama: has 11 PGA Tour wins, was the 2021 Masters Tournament champion, and won the 2025 The Sentry. Matsuyama has been one of the best and most consistent players in the world over the last 10 years. He does not always get the buzz of a McIlroy or Justin Thomas from the media world because he is not as dazzling and outspoken, but the numbers speak for themselves. Hideki is going to do what Hideki does, which is ball-strike his way to success over and over and over again. His short game is outrageously good as well. The Ballfrogs will likely look to leverage that and strategize around his putting.

Keegan Bradley: had a great 2024. He was named the U.S Team Ryder Cup captain, made the Presidents Cup team on the United States side, and became a member of the Ballfrogs. Like many of the players in this league, Bradley has been positive strokes gained overall on the PGA TOUR for much of his career. He just completed his 14th consecutive year in which he is better than an average PGA TOUR player, according to Data Golf, and while 2024 was not quite the year 2023 was, he was still his usual ball-striking self, ranking in the top 40 in the world in both approach play and ball-striking. Bradley has seven PGA Tour wins, was the 2011 PGA Championship winner, and was the 2025 US Team Ryder Cup captain.

Adam Scott: has 14 PGA Tour wins and 14 international wins and was the first Australian to win the Masters in 2013. He is the most experienced player on one of the older TGL teams but is still coming off a year in which he was one of the best players in the world from tee to green and put together 14 top-20s worldwide in 26 starts. Scott’s bread and butter is obviously his tee-to-green play, and that will not change when he’s inside SoFi Center. Scott and Matsuyama are Presidents Cup buddies, and Scott and McIlroy have both spoken about each other’s swing with reverence before. There is already a lot of great buzz around this team, and Scott is often at the center of it.

TGL matches will take place over 15 holes and two sessions. Players will hit full-swing shots off grass, rough, or sand into a simulator screen. Short-game shots under 50 yards and putts will take place inside the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, on a rotating, adjustable green.

Enhanced simulator golf matches will last roughly two hours and will take place primarily in primetime on Monday or Tuesday nights from January through March. There will be 15 regular-season matches, a four-team playoff, and a best-of-three final that will crown the first TGL champion.

Matches will be played over 15 holes and split up into two playing formats. The first session will see teams work together in an alternate shot-style format before transitioning to singles matches for the second session. The team with the most points at the end of the match will win. Similar to hockey, TGL match wins are worth two points, overtime losses are worth one point, and regulation losses are worth zero points.
