The first TGL franchise formed was the Los Angeles Golf Club. Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC) will mark the first of six TGL franchises set to compete in TGL’s inaugural season. The LAGC ownership group will be comprised of Seven Seven Six (776) founder Alexis Ohanian with Serena Williams and Venus Williams. TGL, the new tech-forward, primetime, team golf league developed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports in partnership with the PGA TOUR, commenced its first season in January 2025. Ohanian, the creator of Reddit and founder of 776, is the principal owner and founding investor of Los Angeles’ National Women’s Soccer League franchise Angel City FC, which was named Sports Business Journal’s Team of the Year in 2022 and featured in the HBO docuseries “Angel City.”

Collin Morikawa: has six PGA Tour wins and two major wins and was the 2021 Open Championship winner. Morikawa, in an environment like SoFi Center, is going to be a nightmare to play against. Boston Common Golf’s Rory McIlroy once wondered how, with the move Morikawa has at the ball, he ever misses a shot. The reality of his career and his numbers? He doesn’t miss very often.
Morikawa brings arguably the best iron game in the entire sport and peerless accuracy that should shine on some of the hole setups. Specifically, gamblers are thinking about quick draws that require tremendous accuracy off the tee and also with the second shot to take advantage of the unique layout.
Morikawa is a fun personality but often quiet and reserved during his rounds on the PGA TOUR. The team aspect of TGL presented by SoFi should provide him an opportunity to let loose a bit and be the star that he is. Seven is a key number for him-That’s how many top-five finishes Morikawa had in 2024, tied for the most he’s ever had in a year as a pro. He's been operating at a high level.
Justin Rose: has 11 PGA Tour wins, 12 international wins, and won the 2016 Olympic Gold at Rio De Janeiro Games. Rose has had one of the great careers of the last 20 years. That he is still making Ryder Cup teams (like he did in 2023) and contending for majors (like he did in 2024) is impressive at the age of 44. And while he’s not quite the long hitter he used to be, he makes up for all of that and more with his experience and guile, and he should provide those same qualities to LAGC.
Rose can often be good with the quips, and fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood has a quick wit, too. Those two should be entertaining together, and Rose is versatile enough that he could be the joker of this group. He also will be a good veteran strategic presence.
Tommy Fleetwood: has eight international wins, won the 2017 Race to Dubai, and made three Ryder Cup appearances for Team Europe. He is a complete all-around player whose arsenal includes an underrated around-the-green game. According to Data Golf, he has gained positive strokes in every category in each of the last six years. That’s incredibly unusual and the main reason he’s such an asset.
Fleetwood is fun to watch no matter the format, but match play seems to bring out the best in him. He’s also a tremendous mover of the golf ball and bend it in numerous different directions.
Sahith Theegala: has one PGA Tour win and won the 2020 Fred Haskins, Ben Hogan, and Jack Nicklaus Awards.

TGL matches will take place over 15 holes and two sessions. Players will hit full-swing shots off grass, rough, or sand into a simulator screen. Short-game shots under 50 yards and putts will take place inside the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, on a rotating, adjustable green.
Enhanced simulator golf matches will last roughly two hours and will take place primarily in primetime on Monday or Tuesday nights from January through March. There will be 15 regular-season matches, a four-team playoff, and a best-of-three final that will crown the first TGL champion.
Matches will be played over 15 holes and split up into two playing formats. The first session will see teams work together in an alternate shot-style format before transitioning to singles matches for the second session. The team with the most points at the end of the match will win. Similar to hockey, TGL match wins are worth two points, overtime losses are worth one point, and regulation losses are worth zero points.
