When the action begins on Tuesday, the players will be playing Triples which is an alternate-shot format with players taking turns from hole-to-hole and rotate hitting shots until the hole is completed. In Singles, players will go head-to-head in six Singles holes. Each player on the team will play two Singles holes. Every hole is worth one point unless a team uses the “Hammer” and each team will begin the match with three Hammers, a rule change that began a couple of weeks ago with great success. The team with the most points wins the match. When a team plays the hammer the stakes of the hole go up by one point. The other team then gets control of the Hammer and could play it again making the hole worth three points or hold it for later. Teams can decline the Hammer but if they decline, they concede the hole unless the Hammer was thrown before the first tee shot on a hole and then they have no choice but to accept. Matches go to overtime if tied after 15 holes. The teams would then compete in a best two-of-three closest to the pin competition.

Boston Common has yet to win a match, but they have continued to improve throughout the season. They have made 13 birdies in their last two matches compared to just six in their first two matches. New York is second in TGL in distance off the tee at 317.8 yards. Distance off the tee will be featured when Young plays McIlro, as they are two of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour. Two of the shorter hitters, Fowler and Bradley will play a short par 4 and a long par 3. Schauffele and Scott will finish by playing No. 15 where hitting the fairway has been difficult this season.
