The match between Boston Common Golf and Los Angeles Golf Club is listed as almost a pick in Week 5 TGL odds. The Week 5 TGL match can be seen on ESPN beginning at 9:00 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, February 4 at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Three players from each team will battle in a 15-hole match with nine holes of Triples and six holes of Singles. TGL Match 5 Matchups Lines
Boston Common Golf -108
Los Angeles Golf Club -112
When the action begins on Tuesday, the players will be playing Triples which is an alternate-shot format with players taking turns from hole-to-hole and rotate hitting shots until the hole is completed. In Singles, players will go head-to-head in six Singles holes.
Each player on the team will play two Singles holes. Every hole is worth one point unless a team uses the “Hammer.” The team with the most points wins the match. Los Angeles Golf Club will start with the Hammer on in this Week 5 Tuesday night match. When a team plays the Hammer, the stakes of the hole go up by one point. The other team then gets control of the Hammer and could play it again making the hole worth three points or hold it for later. Teams can decline the Hammer but if they decline, they concede the hole unless the Hammer was thrown before the first tee shot on a hole and then they have no choice but to accept. Matches go to overtime if tied after 15 holes. The teams would then compete in a best two-of-three closest to the pin competition.
Match 5 Team Lineups
Boston Common Golf: Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, Adam Scott (Hideki Matsuyama not playing)
Los Angeles Golf Club: Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose (Sahith Theegala not playing)
Singles Matchups
Rory McIlroy vs. Tommy Fleetwood – Holes 10&13
These two will start with the 602-yard par 5 10th hole with Rory having the advantage off the tee, as he averaged 20 yards more off the tee than Fleetwood did last season. The 13th hole is a par 4 where Rory’s distance will not be as much of a factor.
Adam Scott vs. Collin Morikawa – Holes 11&14
This should be a competitive match with Morikawa having the advantage off the tee, as he hit every fairway in his opening match, while Scott was just average off the tee. The advantage for Scott could be on the greens, as he was excellent a week ago, including making a 31-foot birdie putt.
Keegan Bradley vs. Justin Rose – Holes 12&15
These two veterans will start on No. 12 which is known as the Cliffhanger. They will then get to play the new 15th hole which is a par 5 where each player will face the decision of whether to go for the green in two.
