The eighth match of the TGL Golf season takes place on Monday, February 17th with The Bay Golf Club taking on Boston Common Golf. It will be the second straight match on Monday for The Bay Golf Club, as they play Atlanta Drive GC in the afternoon. The Bay Golf Club features Ludvig Aberg and Wyndham Clark, while Boston Common Golf features Rory McIlroy and Hideki Matsuyama. The Bay Golf Club started Monday tied for 2nd place in the TGL standings, while Boston Common Golf was in 5th place. The Bay Golf Club was very impressive in their opening match, as they routed New York Golf Club 9-2. Boston Common Golf lost their opening match in overtime, as they were beaten by Jupiter Links GC 4-3 and it wasn’t any better for Boston in their second match, as they were routed by Los Angeles Golf Club, losing 6-2. This TGL match between The Bay Golf Club and Boston Common Golf can be seen on ESPN 2 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Eastern on Monday, February 17 at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The match will wrap up a busy Monday for TGL, as it will be the third match of the day. Three players from each team will battle in a 15-hole match with nine holes of Triples and six holes of Singles. The TGL course is about the size of a football field and has real tee boxes, real fairway surfaces, real sand and putting surfaces that change on each hole. Shots are hit into a giant golf simulator screen which is more than 20 times larger than a normal golf simulator screen.

When the action begins on Tuesday, the players will be playing Triples which is an alternate-shot format with players taking turns from hole-to-hole and rotate hitting shots until the hole is completed. In Singles, players will go head-to-head in six Singles holes. Each player on the team will play two Singles holes. Every hole is worth one point unless a team uses the “Hammer.” The team with the most points wins the match. When a team plays the hammer the stakes of the hole go up by one point. The other team then gets control of the Hammer and could play it again making the hole worth three points or hold it for later. Teams can decline the Hammer but if they decline, they concede the hole unless the Hammer was thrown before the first tee shot on a hole and then they have no choice but to accept. Matches go to overtime if tied after 15 holes. The teams would then compete in a best two-of-three closest to the pin competition.
