Marc Lasry’s Avenue Sports Fund revealed The Bay Golf Club as TGL, presented by SoFi’s sixth founding team ahead of the league’s debut in January 2025. The Bay Golf Club’s inaugural roster features four players all ranked inside the top 40 in the Official World Golf Ranking: No. 3 Wyndham Clark, No. 6 Ludvig Åberg, rising star Min Woo Lee, and 2019 Open Champion and recent Zurich Classic Shane Lowry.

Avenue Sports Fund is joined by co-owners, four-time NBA Champions and NBA legends Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Andre Iguodala, establishing a new Bay Area-based franchise with a brand identity that draws from the innovative spirit and championship pedigree of its home market to reach the rapidly growing new participants and fans of the game through TGL.

The Bay Golf Club brings unparalleled insight into the impact sports can have on broader culture and will leverage that collective experience to bring fun, swagger, and excitement to the sport. As owner of the Milwaukee Bucks, Marc Lasry, together with the Bucks ownership group, transformed the organization and city of Milwaukee with a new arena and fan-centric Deer District and guided the organization to its first championship in 50 years.

The Bay Golf Club Players

Ludvig Aberg: won the 2023 RSM Classic and the 2023 European Masters and was a member of the 2023 European Ryder Cup team. His rise from senior at Texas Tech to a top-five player in the world has been as impressive as it’s been quick. Åberg is now a threat (and often a favorite) to win any tournament he enters.

Åberg can be soft-spoken for such a superstar, so he may not take a lead role when it comes to team strategy. But he will almost certainly take a big role when it comes to eye-popping performance, especially off the tee where he can hit it a mile.

Åberg is so different when it comes to hitting the golf ball. The driver swing is shockingly simplistic, and he leaped in 2024 with his approach play. He will be incredible to watch if you’re into numbers and data off the tee and should be a stalwart when it comes to play in the ScreenZone for TBGC.

When he first tees it up in January, it will be just 20 months since Åberg was playing college golf. In that span, he’s won on the PGA TOUR, finished second at the Masters and won a Ryder Cup with Team Europe—an incredible rise.

Wyndham Clark: has three PGA Tour wins, was the winner of the 2023 US Open, and won the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Over the last few years, Clark has been among the best drivers in the world for one reason: Ball speed.

Clark is a terrific player. He will be leaned on for his length and his putting, which has ranked among the top 25 in the world over the last two years, an unusual trait for someone with his length off the tee.

Clark does not seem to be afraid of anyone and embraced the team element during the 2023 Ryder Cup, relishing the opportunity to square off best vs. best. He's a competitor, and that fire burns bright.

Clark has moved up around 100 places in the strokes gained approach rankings worldwide over the last two years compared to the two years prior to that. His arrow has been pointing up for a while.

Min Woo Lee: won the 2023 Macao Open and the 2023 Fortinet Australian PGA Championship and has four international career wins.

Shane Lowry: has three PGA Tour wins and won the 2019 Open Championship. And has two Ryder Cup appearances for Team Europe.

TGL matches will take place over 15 holes and two sessions. Players will hit full-swing shots off grass, rough, or sand into a simulator screen. Short-game shots under 50 yards and putts will take place inside the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, on a rotating, adjustable green.

Enhanced simulator golf matches will last roughly two hours and will take place primarily in primetime on Monday or Tuesday nights from January through March. There will be 15 regular-season matches, a four-team playoff, and a best-of-three final that will crown the first TGL champion.

Matches will be played over 15 holes and split up into two playing formats. The first session will see teams work together in an alternate shot-style format before transitioning to singles matches for the second session. The team with the most points at the end of the match will win. Similar to hockey, TGL match wins are worth two points, overtime losses are worth one point, and regulation losses are worth zero points.
