The last fighter to beat him was Dominick Cruz by unanimous decision in the UFC bantamweight title fight on October 1st, 2011.
Johnson and Dodson have faced off once before in their careers. Johnson was victorious by unanimous decision at UFC on Fox: Johnson vs. Dodson on January 26th, 2013, and he will hope for more success in the rematch. Dodson is the underdog as he enters this matchup with a record of 17-6 with eight knockouts, seven decisions and two submission victories. He has been solid of late besides the loss to Johnson, as he has won all eight of his other fights dating back to 2010. Dodson started his career only 9-5 but has turned himself into a legitimate contender, and while he won’t be favored, one strong showing could be enough to scare Johnson and conceivably pull the upset.
One of the other top fights planned for UFC 91 features Andrei Arlovski against Frank Mir in a heavyweight showdown. Arlovski is 24-10 in his career while Mir has a mark of 18-9, so this could be a pretty evenly matched showdown. Other fights scheduled for this event include the light heavyweight matchups of Anthony Johnson-Jimi Manuwa and Jan Blachowicz-Corey Anderson, while the women’s strawweight bout features Paige VanZant taking on Alex Chambers. There are various other lightweight, bantamweight, featherweight and middleweight fights on the schedule as it promises to be an action-packed night. While the rest of the fights promise to be exciting, the anticipation should build until there is a big buzz for the flyweight title between Johnson and Dodson in UFC odds.
