NCAA Football Betting Online: Neal Brown has turned around the fortunes of the Troy Trojans faster than anyone thought he would. There were questions about whether Brown was ready to take over a program at the age of 35, but he answered those with doubts with the school’s first 10-win season since joining FBS. With all of last year’s skill position talent returning this season, there’s a lot of optimism that he can win the school its first Sun Belt title since 2010.

No Sun Belt quarterback was better than Brandon Silvers in 2016. Silvers was named First-Team All-SBC after a season where he threw for over 3,000 yards. He was very good against most conference foes, only struggling against the two best teams in the conference, Appalachian State and Arkansas State.
Jordan Chunn and the running game fell apart at the tail end of the season, resulting in two conference losses and a narrow bowl victory over Troy’s final four games. The Trojans averaged 3.27 yards per carry over the last four games of 2016. There are three sophomores expected to be starters on the offensive line this season and the running game could struggle to find its footing.
The receivers might be the best duo in the conference. Emanuel Thompson and Deondre Douglas both earned all-SBC honors last season with Douglas being the main target at the beginning of the season and Thompson finishing strong. Troy will run a lot of four wide receiver sets and they have plenty of experienced depth to make that offense work too.
The secondary was a huge surprise for Troy last year. The Trojans snagged 22 interceptions and were great at forcing incompletions out of opposing quarterbacks too. Only two quarterbacks completed more than 60 percent of their passes against this unit. Overall, they only allowed QBs to complete 52.7 percent of their passes. Four of five starters will return from last year.
Troy announced its turnaround last season in a loss to Clemson. The Trojans only lost to the eventual national champions by six points on the road and came very close to knocking off the best team in the land. They carried that momentum to seven straight wins and a spot in the AP Top 25 before their late season fade.

Larry Blakeney is the winningest coach in school history and was the head man here for a quarter-century. He shepherded the Trojans all the way from Division II to the FBS level and is considered the godfather of the program.
Under Blakeney, the Trojans established themselves as the team to beat in the Sun Belt in the late-2000s. Troy won at least a share of the conference title for every year from 2006 to 2010 and went to bowls in four of those seasons.
However, in the early part of this decade, Blakeney’s strategy of recruiting JUCOs and over-signing started to fall apart and it was obvious the school needed a change.
Brown became the head coach in 2015 and the school has seen its fortunes improve rapidly under his stewardship. The school will have two extremely tough non-conference road games in Boise State and LSU, but every other game is winnable. Their matchup against Arkansas State at the end of the year could very well be for the conference title.
