NCAA Football Betting Online: If there’s one thing that we know about the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, it’s that they will put up a ton of points this season. Tulsa was 7th in the nation in scoring last season, averaging 42.5 PPG, and tried to win games by outscoring everyone. That strategy proved to be pretty successful. The Golden Hurricane went 10-3 and blew out Central Michigan in the Miami Beach Bowl. It was their most successful season since joining the American and the team is considered a contender to win the conference in 2017.

Philip Montgomery’s offense did it all in 2016. Tulsa had a 3,000 yard passer, two 1,400 yard rushers, and two 1,000 yard receivers last season. It was one of the most productive offenses in the country and people who play college fantasy loved being able to rely on this offense all season.
Dane Evans is gone and that means the quarterback battle is wide open in Tulsa. None of the contenders have any real experience with Chad President being the only one with action, throwing two passes last season. However, President hurt his leg last year and although he saw most of the first-team repetitions in spring, the competition is up in the air. He was a touted recruit and Montgomery hopes he can live up to the hype.
Defense isn’t going to be a strength for Tulsa. The run defense gave up a ton of yards last season and will likely do the same in 2017. Although this team should be pretty decent in the secondary, the front seven is going to have some problems and that is going to lead to a lot of high-scoring games.
The Golden Hurricane could get pretty far into the season before suffering their first loss. Tulsa doesn’t play the best teams on its schedule until November, but then the chickens come home to roost. November features road trips to Temple, Notre Dame, and Houston and it’s hard to imagine Tulsa exiting with a 2-1 record or better in those games.

World War II was good to Tulsa. From 1941 to 1945, the school went to five straight bowls and ended the season ranked as high as No. 4 during that time.
Tulsa was part of the Missouri Valley Conference for over 50 years. The conference stopped supporting football after the 1985 season though and it took some time for the Golden Hurricane to get going. The school had just three winning seasons as an Independent and a WAC member until they joined Conference USA in 2005.
After joining Conference USA, the school’s fortunes took off. Steve Kragthorpe got the ball rolling with three bowl appearances in four seasons, but Todd Graham showed what this school is capable of. Tulsa won 10-plus games in three of his four seasons there and set the tone with a great offense. Montgomery is following in those footsteps and if a quarterback emerges, this offense could be phenomenal again.
