European Tour Golf Betting Odds: Though technically not a "major tournament" on the Euro PGA Tour, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship feels like it should be. It's one of the top tournaments on the Euro Tour with a prize pool of an estimated $5 million this year, and the top international golfers come out every year to play this unique tournament to be played at three different golf courses.
All of the action at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship will take place from Thursday, October 5 through Sunday, October 8, 2017.

Of course, what makes the Alfred Dunhill Links so impressive is the fact that it's played at three different courses, the first and last of which come at the great St. Andrews Old Course. The golfers play at Carnoustie and Kingsbarns in the same tournament in the second and third rounds respectively.
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is a Pro-Am Tournament as well, something which makes this all the more interesting.
Instead of there being a traditional cut after 36 holes, the cut is after three rounds at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship to give both the pros and the amateurs three rounds and a look at all of the courses on the docket. The tournament cuts down to 60 professionals and 20 pro-am teams.

Not surprisingly, a lot of British and Scottish golfers are on the list of the winners of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. St. Andrews is one of these courses that you only improve at by playing, and every round is a little bit different because of the weather. Even the slightest change in wind direction can alter the course a ton.
England has been represented five different times by five different golfers in the winner's circle for this event, while Scottish golfers won three of the first five ever to be played at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Because this tournament only dates back to 2001, there aren't all many who can say they even remotely competed in this event multiple times, let alone won it. There has only been one repeat winner in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, that being Paddy Harrington, who won the event in 2002 and 2006. Both Rory McIlroy and Ernie Els finished second in this event twice in their careers, while Thorbjorn Olesen, the 2015 winner of the event, also finished second in 2012.

Plenty of golfers have shot at least -20 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, an astounding score considering the fact that the golfers have to get used to playing at three different courses and have the pressure of playing with celebrities. David Howell won this tournament in 2013 in a playoff at -23, but he's no longer alone atop the charts. Tyrrell Hatton came up with a win at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last year at -23, and the fact that he was able to crush the field by four strokes makes it arguably the most impressive triumph in the history of the tourney.
Lee Westwood was the first to break -20 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, and he held the course record for eight years before Michael Hoey and Branden Grace each went off for -22 victories in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
How to bet on Alfred Dunhill Links Championship
The odds of a golfer to win the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship will generally look something like:
- Tiger Woods + 150
- Phil Mickelson + 250
- Steve Stricker + 300
- Jeff Overton + 700
- Ernie Els + 700
- Field + 600
These betting odds will be lower when betting on a golfer to finish in the top three, as the sportsbook must pay off three different winning bets.
A player would have to bet $10 to win $150 that Tiger Woods will win the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, while the bettor wagering on Jeff Overton stands to win $70 on their $10 wager.
Another commonly placed bet in European Golf golf is head-to-head finish between two players. With this bet, a player doesn't really care what place the golfer finishes in, as long as the golfer wagered on finishes higher than the other golfer.
A head-to-head betting line for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship will look something like:
- Tiger Woods - 190 Steve Stricker + 150
In this bet, players wagering on Woods to finish higher than Stricker will be asked to risk $19 to win $10, while bettors believing that Stricker will finish higher than Woods will bet $10 to win $15.
Those familiar with sports betting will have no trouble making the transition to European Golf golf wagering, while those new to the world of sports betting should be able to pick up the concepts of European golf betting without to much trouble.
