European Tour Golf Betting Odds: Vive La France! There aren't all that many French golfers out there playing at the top level of the Euro PGA Tour, and there haven't been many over the course of history either. That said, the Euro PGA Tour has one day a year in which it travels to France, that being the Open de France in the summer.
All of the action at the Open de France will take place from Thursday, June 29 through Sunday, July 2, 2018.
2018 Open de France At a Glance
Course: Le Golf National, Paris, France
Par: 284
Course Length: 7,300 yards
Defending Champion: Thongchai Jaidee
Tournament Record: -21 (263)
The Open de France used to be a tournament held at a rotating venue. It was a tourney that was founded way back in 1906 at the Racing Club de France La Boulie in Versailles. It was the first of 20 events held at this course over the years, but it's not the most used tournament in the history of the Open de France. Le Golf National in Paris has been the home of the Open de France every year since 2002 after it was just a part of a rotation over the years.
But literally, there hasn't been a championship level course in France that hasn't hosted the Open de France at least once.

Perhaps the best part of what we've seen out of the Open de France in recent years is the fact that a couple different French golfers win it. Most recently, Thomas Levet was able to capture the hearts of all of the golf fans in France by winning this tourney in 2011, but maybe the most notable tournament in the history of the Open de France was in 2005.
Jean-Francois Remesy came off of a win in 2004 and was looking for a second straight Open de France victory, and he was forced into a playoff against another Frenchman, Jean van de Velde. Remesy won that day for his second consecutive title at home, but it was a really crowning day for French golf for sure.

It's been a while since we've had even a three-time winner of the Open de France, but this used to be commonplace back in the day. Then again, so many of the initial champions of this event were French. Not surprisingly, two of the three men who have won this championship a record four times are French. Arnaud Massey, who won the first two editions of the Open de France has four titles, while Aubrey Boomer won four of the championships in the 1920s.
Seve Ballesteros is the best modern-day example of a big time winner at the Open de France. He won this event in 1977, 1982, 1985 and 1986.
Graeme McDowell has the best shot of becoming the next three-time winner of the Open de France. He is the most recent back-to-back winner of the event from 2013 and 2014.

Good luck to the rest of the golfers out there who are going to try to break the tournament record at the Open de France. Seve Ballesteros has the record at -21, but that came at Saint-Germain, not at Le Golf National. All of the top scores in the history of the tournament were played outside of Paris. Most of the winning scores of the Open de France since the tourney moved to Paris have been in the low to mid-teens. The best score in the history of the tournament since the permanent move was in 1997 when Retief Goosen fired at -17, 271, beating Jamie Spence by three shots.

How to bet on Alstom Open de France
The odds of a golfer to win the Alstom Open de France will generally look something like:
- Tiger Woods + 150
- Phil Mickelson + 250
- Steve Stricker + 300
- Jeff Overton + 700
- Ernie Els + 700
- Field + 600
These betting odds will be lower when betting on a golfer to finish in the top three, as the sportsbook must pay off three different winning bets.
A player would have to bet $10 to win $150 that Tiger Woods will win the Alstom Open de France, while the bettor wagering on Jeff Overton stands to win $70 on their $10 wager.
Another commonly placed bet in European Golf golf is head-to-head finish between two players. With this bet, a player doesn't really care what place the golfer finishes in, as long as the golfer wagered on finishes higher than the other golfer.
A head-to-head betting line for the Alstom Open de France will look something like:
- Tiger Woods - 190 Steve Stricker + 150
In this bet, players wagering on Woods to finish higher than Stricker will be asked to risk $19 to win $10, while bettors believing that Stricker will finish higher than Woods will bet $10 to win $15.
Those familiar with sports betting will have no trouble making the transition to European Golf golf wagering, while those new to the world of sports betting should be able to pick up the concepts of European golf betting without to much trouble.
