European Tour Golf Betting Odds: When you think of all of the really old tournaments that are now a part of the Euro PGA Tour, you think about events held in England or Scotland. However, one of the oldest events is actually the Italian Open. Most don't realize that golf is big thing in Italy, particularly in the northern part of the country where this event has been held at least for the last several years and will be held again in 2018.
All of the action at the Italian Open will take place from Thursday, October 22 through Sunday, October 25, 2018.
2018 Italian Open At a Glance
Course: Golf Club Milano, Milan, Italy
Par: 288
Course Length: 7,156 yards
Defending Champion: Francesco Molinari
Tournament Record: -25 (262)
The Italian Open dates all the way back to 1925 and hasn't had much in the way of interruption. The tourney wasn't held in 1933 or from 1961 through 1970, but it has been a mainstay since that point and is routinely a very close tournament.
Though the Italian Open has been held at the Golf Club Milano for the past several years, this was a rotating event in the past and is very likely to become that way again in the future with no plans beyond the 2017 season set in stone yet. The Royal Park I Roveri was the host of this tourney from 2009 through 2012 and is a good candidate to see the Italian Open come back in future years.

No matter the course that the Italian Open has been held at, the scores have seemingly always been pretty darn low. All but one winner since 1998 has had to shoot at least -16 to get the job done, and here at the Golf Club Milano, there have been 11 golfers in the last three years fire at least 19-under.
Italy clearly lacks some top notch golfers on the Euro PGA Tour at this point. Francesco Molinari has won the Italian Open twice in his career, but his two wins, including the victory last season, mark the only ones by an Italian at the home event since Massimo Mannelli won it in 1980.

You've got to step into the way back machine in order to find any golfer who has won the Italian Open more than twice. Flory Van Donck and Auguste Boyer are both four-time winners, though these names date all the way back to the 1950s. To this day, Boyer is still the only back-to-back winner of the event, having done so in 1930 and 1931.
In more modern times, we've had a few two-time winners of the Italian Open. The most notable of the bunch is Italy's own, Francesco Molinari, who won in both 2006 and 2016.

Not only is Francesco Molinari a true hero in Italy for his two wins in the Italian Open, but said wins are both in impressive fashion. He's got credit for two of the Top 4 scores to par in the history of his home tournament, and in 2016, he fired a 262 for the four rounds, the best aggregate four-round score in the history of the event.
But they're all still chasing Hennie Otto. The South African was remarkable in 2008, tearing up the Castello di Tolcinasco Golf and Country Club to the tune of a 25-under, 263, a record to par that still stands to this day.
That said, keep in mind that a whopping 12 winners of the Italian Open have shot at least -20. At some point, that -25 is going to end up falling as the top mark in the tournament's history.

How to bet on Open d’Italia
The odds of a golfer to win the Open d’Italia will generally look something like:
- Tiger Woods + 150
- Phil Mickelson + 250
- Steve Stricker + 300
- Jeff Overton + 700
- Ernie Els + 700
- Field + 600
These betting odds will be lower when betting on a golfer to finish in the top three, as the sportsbook must pay off three different winning bets.
A player would have to bet $10 to win $150 that Tiger Woods will win the Open d’Italia, while the bettor wagering on Jeff Overton stands to win $70 on their $10 wager.
Another commonly placed bet in European Golf golf is head-to-head finish between two players. With this bet, a player doesn't really care what place the golfer finishes in, as long as the golfer wagered on finishes higher than the other golfer.
A head-to-head betting line for the Open d’Italia will look something like:
- Tiger Woods - 190 Steve Stricker + 150
In this bet, players wagering on Woods to finish higher than Stricker will be asked to risk $19 to win $10, while bettors believing that Stricker will finish higher than Woods will bet $10 to win $15.
Those familiar with sports betting will have no trouble making the transition to European Golf golf wagering, while those new to the world of sports betting should be able to pick up the concepts of European golf betting without to much trouble.
