European Tour Golf Betting Odds: The summer is known for its big time tournaments on the links, and though many eyes are on the PGA Tour this time of year, the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open is one of the many events on the European PGA Tour calendar that should pique some interest as well. A whopping prize pool of four million Euros will attract some of the top talent that's out there, including some that's willing to come over from the PGA Tour as well.
All of the action at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open will take place from Thursday, July 6 through Sunday, July 9, 2018.
2018 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open At a Glance
Course: Portstewart Golf Club, Londonderry, Northern Ireland
Par: 288
Course Length: 7,054 yards
Defending Champion: Rory McIlroy
Tournament Record: -21 (266)
The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open is one of these tournaments played at rotating courses, so obviously, the results are often tremendously different depending upon the difficulty of the course and the weather conditions in fickle Ireland. Last year, the tourney was played at The K Club, and Rory McIlroy fired a -12 to win the event. The year before, it was played at Royal County Down, and there were only six golfers who finished below par with the winning score being Soren Kjeldsen's -2.
This year, the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open will be played in Northern Ireland at the Portstewart Golf Club for the very first time, and it would be quite something to see the hometown hero, McIlroy pull off a second straight win in this event in front of what should be a tremendously biased crowd in his favor.

The one thing that isn't missing in the history of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open is winners from the UK and the British Isles. McIlroy became the first native of Northern Ireland to win the Irish Open since way back in 1946 when Fred Daly captured the prize in Dublin.
The last Irish golfer to win the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open was Shane Lowry in 2009, and he was an amateur when he got the job done. Paddy Harrington is perhaps the most famous Irish Open winner for his homeland, and he did so in Limerick in 2007.
England, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland have all been represented as winners of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open just since 2009.

With a tournament as old as the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, it's clear that there are going to be multiple-time winners of the event. The first two-time winner of the Irish Open was Bob Kenyon, who pulled off the feat in 1931 and 1933. After six men won this event twice though, Seve Ballesteros became the first to do so three times, and he pulled off his three victories in four years from 1983 through 1986.
That run of dominance though, was nothing compared to what we saw Nick Faldo do. He won the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in 1991, 1992 and 1993, becoming the only man to win this event in three straight years.
The most recent back-to-back winner of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open is Colin Montgomerie. His wins in 1996 and 1997 were his first two titles here, and he followed that up with a third in 2001.
Bernhard Langer is the other three-time champion of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, winning it in 1984, 1987 and 1994.

Of course, any time you're dealing with a tournament that has had different venues, you're going to have different top scores. The lowest score to par ever recorded was initially put up in 1975 when native Christy O'Connor Jr. won the Irish Open at -21. It was a mark duplicated by Bernhard Langer, albeit in eight fewer shots at 267 in 1984.
The lowest total score though, was set in 2001 by Colin Montgomerie. Ironically, the next man to pull off that same score was Ross Fisher in 2010, and he was an amateur when he reached that goal.
