2013 KLM Open Winner - Luiten beats Jimenez to win KLM Open in Netherlands

Joost Luiten beat Miguel Angel Jimenez on the first playoff hole Sunday to win the KLM Open for his second European Tour title of the year.

Luiten became the first Dutch winner of his country's national open since Maarten Lafeber in 2003 and the first Dutchman to win twice in a season on the European Tour. He also won the Lyoness Open in Austria in June.

Jimenez made four early birdies to take the lead but Luiten rallied on the back nine at the Kennemer Golf & Country Club, with both making par on the 18th to force the playoff. Jiminez shot a 3-under 67 while Luiten had a 68. Both finished with 12-under totals of 268.

The players returned to the 18th tee and Luiten made par, while Jimenez hit his drive into the rough right of the fairway, left his second on the fringe and could not hole out in two.

2012 KLM Open Winner - Hanson eagles 18th for KLM Open title

Peter Hanson eagled the 18th hole Sunday to come from behind and win the KLM Open.

Hanson and Pablo Larrazabal were knotted at 12-under par when Hanson, who played in the group ahead of Larrazabal, knocked his second to 35 feet at the par-5 closing hole.

Hanson poured in the eagle try to go two clear and force Larrazabal to eagle the same hole to force a playoff.

Larrazabal's drive went right and stopped behind a tree. He hit a great second that ran through the putting surface and into a valley next to the green. He needed to chip in to force an extra session.

The Spaniard gave it a good run, but his chip missed a few left of the hole.

That gave Hanson his fifth victory on the European Tour and first since 2010.

Hanson shot a 3-under 67 and finished at 14-under 266.

He won by two strokes over Larrazabal, a third-round co-leader, who parred the last for an even-par 70, and last week's European Masters winner, Richie Ramsay, who posted a 3-under 67.

This was a tough week for Hanson off the course.

His 1-year-old son, Tim, was back at home in Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Florida with a respiratory virus known as RS. The virus is contagious so his family persuaded him to stay and play the event.

Hanson didn't sleep on Friday night, but on Sunday, with Tim improving back in Florida, where Hanson, a Swede, is now based, it was a great day for the Hanson family.

Scott Jamieson, one of the four third-round leaders, shot a 1-over 71 and took fourth at minus-11.

The other two co-leaders, Graeme Storm and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, both had 3-over 73s on Sunday and tied for fifth with Henrik Stenson, who posted a 69, at 9-under 271.

2011 KLM Open Winner - Simon Dyson claims third KLM Open title

England's Simon Dyson climbed into the world's top 30 for the first time in his career after claiming his third KLM Open in six years.

The 33-year-old recovered well from dropped shots at the fourth and eleventh, shooting birdies on four of the last seven holes to beat compatriot David Lynn by one shot.

He joins an illustrious list of three-time winners in Holland, which includes Seve Ballesteros and Bernhard Langer.

US Open champion Rory McIlroy finished third, a result which lifted him back up to number three in the rankings following a similar finish in the European Masters.

Meanwhile, Great Britain and Ireland's top amateurs won the Walker Cup for the first time in eight years, beating their US counterparts 14-12 at Royal Aberdeen.

The hosts needed 13-and-a-half points to take the title and they took an insurmountable lead when 17-year-old Welshman Rhys Pugh won his singles match against Kelly Kraft and Steven Brown halved with Blayne Barber.
